Inflammatory diseases and life stresses

I suffer with Crohn's disease, sarcoidosis and rheumatoid atheritus. I'm a car dealer in south Manchester, I've been pushing myself working 50 hours Monday to Friday to prepare for weekend calls. It's my passion and my livelihood, but 3 weekends have passed and no phone calls.

Bring self employed is bringing a lot of stress on my life and flaring my diesases up. I end up napping in the day at the weekend.

If I'm not making money it makes me very emotional. I put 110% effort into my business I have some very happy PREVIOUS customers.

Sometimes just a bit of motivational help spurs me on but today I feel like I'm in a hole.

I really struggle with my weight lost 4kg since Christmas. I train hard in the gym and yet no gains. I'm 29 years old and people comment say I look 35. All this stress has took a toll on me.

I don't know why I'm posting this perhaps a little rant to myself as my Circle if friends is very small.

thanks for reading

Kind regards

Hi Robert,

I'm incredibly new to this forum. (Literally this is my first post within 2 minutes of signing up. I was searching for counselling/therapy/depression forums)

But this thankfully is something I feel I can try and help with!

Firstly the sales not coming in:

Don't beat yourself up about it, its just the time of year that and economic climate. Some people really do want a new car but just cannot physically afford it. And have to sacrifice it to put food on the table. Try adapting your approach if something isn't working, try another way, something that you've been doing that's worked for years might not be working right this second. Try to change it up a bit. (advice given to me from a sales manager at bmw sytner)

Secondly the gains, or lack of. If you have some spare money at all, consider a personal trainer. My boyfriend was pretty much a stick when we met, no shape, no muscle, very scrawny weak geeky guy that I was stronger than.

I used to go the gym 5 times a week, and he started with a personal trainer soon after us dating. I think he pays £20 an hour as he bulk booked. He's on a 12 week programme and I have to say, I thought they were absolute bull**** but after physically seeing his improvement, his back is defined, he actually has some bicep muscles now, and triceps, his legs are solid. Just his belly to go now, and he's on his way to a 6pac.

If you can't afford a pt, (no disrespect meant), do some research online, check out the YouTube channel for "buff dudes" they give great advice. In terms of diet, perhaps consult a dr or dietician.

Remember that gains is 80%diet and 20% excersize.

(I truly apologise if I come across as patronising, or if throwing my opinion is unwanted)

Just some friendly advice. You're doing an amazing job! And you have seriously overcome some hurdles!

Also never be afraid to nap! I used to work 40 hours a week, 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm. But when on earlies, I would always get home and nap from 3-4. Eat food and then Xbox. Then bed again. But I was happy.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, and saying I'm doing an amazing job. Napping seems to be part of being down and no one ringing on the weekend. I can't stay in one place to long I'm allways on then go.

As for the gym my weight is to do with the Crohn's Theres not one bit of fat on me I have abs chest triceps ripped legs just the Crohn's and stress affects me a lot. I can eat from 4000-6000 calories a day and still not gain anything. So when I'm stressed and not selling I'm loosing weight.

Anyway lonely wolf how thanks a lot.

Hi Robert, i too have Crohn's and I know stress and Crohn's are not a good combination. Do you take medication for it? Just asking because I'm on Humira now and I can feel I'm starting to put weight on. It's soul destroying for you working so hard and not getting the results you want. Life's like that though isn't it!! Ups and downs all the time!! Don't be too hard on yourself because it sounds like you're putting more than 100 per cent into it. Meditation saved my sanity!! That and walking. If you haven't tried meditation then give it a go!! You've nothing to lose and it's like a little bit of heaven in a crazy stressful world sometimes 🙏🏻 I live in the midlands but I'm a Yorkshire lass. My eldest son lives in Manchester 😁👍. Things will work out for you Robert so don't dispair too much. Take care.
