Hi Tigger, I love Sia's 'swing from the Chandler' it seems to fire up all the cells in my body to be motivated to move it 😂 music has always helped me in many situations, I love silence a lot of the time in the house and its probably because I often have music playing in my head.

When I was young I used to play my favourite violin concerto at high volume to do the housework and the home would look spotless after that, ummm maybe that's something I should get back into doing!

I do find it helps to turn to music for so many different mood swings and can sometimes just help to have a good cry and then move on. If pain stops me sleeping at night I will put classic fm on very quietly and then drift in and out of sleep much more relaxed.

But one thing I can say that helps much more than listening and that is playing, I started piano lesson when my youngest daughter wanted to learn as a child and we went through the grades together, some years back I also found a friend who is now sadly gone and have fond memories when we played duets, we would collapse in laughter at the end when we got it right as we had to concentrate so hard on four hands instead of two, we just couldn't believe it when we succeeded 😂 my daughter laughs so much when she remembers playing duets with me as I would do the beat counting in a very uncontrolled way, like 1& 2 3456 & 7, it's a wonder we ever managed to actually learn to play, but we had a lot of fun 😊 I willl now spend hours with either my piano or cello and find its an amazing way to express inner emotions through the way you play a certain piece. I am a beginner at cello and think it can never be too late to learn anything.

I once watched a documentary of an old folks home in America where at 80 and beyond they were taking up learning and instruments and having so much fun, research shows it wards off a lot of diseases of the mind as well 😃

Have you watched the amazing latest dancer video she has done for a bird set free, she never ceases to inspire .

Have fun creating your play lists for hours of happy listening xxx

It must be a great feeling to be able to play an instrument and create your own music- I would love to have had the ability . I used to mess around with guitar a bit but could never co ordinate to finger pick - even worse now !

Big Mike Oldfield fan - is there anything he can't play ? ! : ) x

Ah the trick is to find a good teacher or friend that can teach, then after a few years you start to take flight and can continue to learn on your own. Trouble is as adults we expect far too much of ourselves sometimes, it's better to bring out the inner child and not care when it sounds wrong, just enjoy annoying everyone else in ear shot. Children get away with it with a smile why shouldn't we 😂 xx

Heavy metal, numbs the brain and mood !!

I love all kinds of good music but this week I've been listening 50 words for Snow Kate Bush.

Hi tigger,

Great post : )

I love all kinds of music, from classical to heavy rock, mood dependant.

Never short of finding the perfect match to my mood, with the wonderful youtube to hand : )

I love watching live music too, all kinds , and if possible like to dress to suit the genre/era I am going to see - all part of the fun !

It was John Lennon night at my local on Sat, plus lots of other 60's music - I can still twist and shout, even with my stick lol !

Did you mean you used to dance formally or in a more casual sense ?

It is great exercise/physio and certainly lifts my mood : )

Love listening to the music of my youth......mainly 70's. When I see bands from that era on TOTP2 or similar I cringe at the haircuts, outfits etc but that was then and was the norm. Must dig out my kipper tie and flares :-)

ha ha ha i love TOTP2 , love all the older music, this modern stuff is all the same. I was born in 88 so i missed all the clothes and haircuts but like you said, then it was normal.
