As the George Strait song goes "I ain't here for a long time, I'm here for a good time". Let's all think about living like that as much as we can!!

Although positive thinking is a good thing suggesting being positive can also make some people who are depressed feel even more despair. Better I think to simply validate how people feel, then they tend to begin to feel better in a spontaneous way and from a deep emotional level. Feeling validated makes us feel happy.

I understand what you are saying that it can make you feel more despair and believe me I understand feeling despair (you only have to read my other posts). But does it always have to be doom and gloom. If people who suffer depression have woken up feeling more positive today then the words from the song may inspire them to feel even better. I watched my Dad die of cancer 4 years ago and was with him at the end - there is no second chance and we all need to kick depression to get the most out of our life. Whichever way you deal with it we need solutions - not just tea and sympathy.

That's a great post Annie and very inspiring. Thank you. Bev x
