Wanting to be on your own is not always a bad thing. It's the stereotype that people without friends hanging from their ankles have something wrong with them, is the problem.

I have exactly the opposite problem in that I always felt absolutely alone, even as a small child, so for me being alone is connected with feeling isolated even though I can enjoy some solitary activities - as soon as I'm aware of feeling alone then I also feel lonely and want some company. I think each extreme is as sad as the other in some ways - the ideal is a balance between enjoying being alone but also enjoying the company of other people.

I like being on my own I find it very stressful talking to people. don't know what to say.

Hi I too prefer to be on my own. I dont mind my own company. I find interacting with people at the moment very hard work & so stressful. It causes me to feel more anxious but I do hope in time I wont always feel this way as I also feel life is passing me by.
