What are the long term effects of aspirin and statin use? Doctors just seem to hand them out like sweets!

Side effects of any medication are personal to the person taking the medication. You may have no side effects.

Thanks for your reply. I do understand your comment. I should have worded my question better. I really wanted to know what official research has brought forth given that these prescribed medications have been around now for many years. Googling or Newspaper reports are not trustworthy sources and there are always ‘experts’ on both sides of the fence.

there are risks with both drugs,asprin increases the risk of stomach ulcer and possibly some types of stroke while statins have some health risk which you can google.Both drugs also have health benefits so talk to your doctor and make an informed choice on using them

These are only possible risks. Not everyone will get them. The statin has presumably already been prescribed by a doctor and possibly the aspirin as well. Forum members should not put Google before another members doctor. There are some wacky things on google!

Thanks. Feel the same as you about the (de) merits of Googling. Wondered if there was any recent (official) studies carried out on long term usage.

Thank you. Don’t like ‘Googling’ as you nearly always get conflicting ‘experts’ opinions. Looking for official independent studies. Hard to find!!
