ilioinguinal cord nerve block did not work (testicle pain)

I had a ilioinguinal cord nerve block for chronic right side testcle pain, the block has not worked.

I'm so annoyed.

Where do I go now?

I’m sorry to hear that. persistent pain in the testicles can be very difficult to address. A small but significant percentage of men are left with this condition after vasectomy - it’s called PVP (post vasectomy pain) syndrome. Google that for possible remedies that have worked. Be mindful though that many men report that surgical intervention often does not work and can even make things worse. Good luck

Hi, This is what my urology consultant keeps telling me, that any operation on this area often doesn't work, or can leave the patient is worst pain.

Do you know if an ilioinguinal nerve block is the same as a spermatic cord block?

Multiple techniques for MSCD have been described over the years. The procedure was first reported in 1978 (38). In regards to incision site selection, there are essentially two approaches: the traditional inguinal approach or a sub-inguinal approach. Both options have been described with good success and each has their relative strengths (39-41). The inguinal approach, as described by Devine et al. in their original 1978 paper, allows the surgeon to bury the proximal segment of the ilioinguinal nerve after being severed to reduce the risk of neuroma formation while the subinguinal approach may be more comfortable for some surgeons as this approach is similar to that for microscopic varicocelectomy. The non-muscle splitting nature of the subinguinal incision has led to this approach being the modality of choice in this operation. Both have been described with good results (4,18).

UPDATE! The Illioinguinal nerve block is actually working, it hasn't totally taken away the pain, but has reduced the pain level. It was after the 6th day I started to feel a change, seems to have numbed everything, has taken the edge of things. The specialist who performed the block did say it can take a few days for the steroids to work, so he seems to be correct...
