I am 16 years old and I am suffering from what I think is balanitis in my foreskin. There is a very little pain in my foreskin. I haven't should it to the doctor yet,is there any chance that it will get cured without getting a circumcision?

Wash with clear water, dry, and apply a cream with clotrimazole for two weeks. Smear the cream on all parts of your foreskin and penis head. Do it twice per day. Do not wash the inside of the foreskin with soap as that kills the protective bacteria which are there for good health. Athlete’s Foot cream will work.

Circumcision is not a proper procedure for treating balanitis. Don’t allow anyone fool you into believing that.

The most common causes of typical balanitis are the use of soap and taking antibiotics. The use of steroid creams prescribed for tight foreskins can also contribute to the problem.

Hi Tayahang

4 steps to get rid of balanitis at all levels of the body, including skin, urinary tract (as it will start to effect this area too but it's not called balanitis here), prostate (as this also will be effected if balanitis is not treated straight away).

1) Buy Canesten cream and apply as per the instructions. (this maybe all that is needed but the strain of bacteria these days has become resistant so continue with the next steps whilst doing this cream)

2) Get iodopovidone. Add it to cold water until its like a dark tea colour. Put you penis head into it 3 times a day for 5 minutes. (this treats the immediate skin but not the internal body do do the next step for this). Do this for one week or longer if symptoms are still there.

3) Get antibiotic Doxycycline from your doctor, it's prescription only. Take 100mg 3 times a day for a week (this is what was prescribed for me) or as per your doctors instructions.

4) this step is optional and I'm not sure it will help of not:

Cut fresh garlic, ginger, and turmeric and mix a little vinegar and salt for taste and eat this with your evening meal. Your breath will stick but hey its worth it if it helps. You may want to do this for a week also.

Don't live with balanits untreated too long as it will cause other complications in the reproductive system and may take many weeks before it is resolved. Treat it as soon as possible with all these suggestions even if it is not in tandem, do the ones you have whilst you wait to buy the other products.

If I think of anything else I'll update here. Good luck.

Pete, balanitis is nearly always a yeast inection. Canestan is a correct treatment, Yeast is not bacteria, so an antibiotic is out of order and could cause more problems. Specific bacteria colonize in the preputial pouch, so antibiotics are contraindicated. The bacteria can be restored quickly with an application of plain yogurt with live culture.

Ordinary Athlete’s Foot cream does the job most of the time. Bacterial infections are rare in intact men with proper limited hygiene. Soap should never be used, and rinsing should be no more than once per day. Casual sexual relations should include condoms. All courses of antibiotics should be accompanied by a ten day course of applucation of yeast cream.

Always worth seeing Doc for proper diagnosis but treat any suggestion of surgery as a last resort.

Circumcision isn’t used to cure balanitis, good hygiene, clotrimazole is.

My experience at Network54 revealed that 90%+ was candida, a yeast. Clotrimazole is usually all that is needed. When not, tests for diabetes are in order.
