Hi,

I am 17 years old and I noticed this odd skin tangent that connects to the head of my penis. I am very worried and curious about this and wondering if I will need medical attention. I will be adding a picture, please refrain from looking if you would like.

Thank You for your help.

I'm not medically qualified, but it does look unusual. It appears to be a larger frenulum than normal. If everything still works and you have no pain in retracting your foreskin or in having erections I can't see any issues. Although you may chose to have it looked at just for your own peace of mind.

From your picture it seems that you are circumcised. I am guessing the "odd" piece of skin is a skin bridge that formed when your circumcision healed. You can go to your doctor and see if that connection/ bridge can be surgically removed.

Should it be surgically removed? Or is it fine leaving it as is?

Am I right that you are circumcised? If so, at what age?

It is your personal decision whether to have it surgically removed. Does the odd piece of skin create any discomfort when you have an erection? Do you have problem with masturbation or sex? Is there a space underneath the odd piece of skin? If so, is it easy to clean under there?

Yes, I was circumsized when I was a baby. The odd skin doesn't created discomfort while masturbating but I feel insecure during my sex life. It is not easy to clean.

I suggest a consultation with your doctor to state your concerns. It might just be a minor outpatient surgery that heals within days or weeks, and then you will have a maintenance free penis again!

Good luck Kurutsl, and keep us posted.

Russel is correct. It’s a complication of your circumcision called a skin bridge. If it isn’t hurting you, leave it alone. To remove it would require minor surgery.

Yes, this is another of the many unfortunate consequences of circumcision. The question I have is it really a skin bridge ...or .. is it a skin tag. With skin bridges ... a continuous tunnel exists beneath the skin, through which something can be passed, from one side to the other.

Skin "tags" on the other hand, are completely attached to the glans ... without the tunnel. The only great problem might be if the skin tag (or bridge) pulls unnaturally on your glans during erection, masturbation, and intercourse.

Skin tags are usually best left alone, but if what you have is a skin "bridge" ... yours appears to be rather larger than usual ... and you may wish to ask your doctor for advice. Not that you need to take any doctor's advice ... because few of them know much of anything about the complex anatomy and functions of the penis, and they often advise surgical cutting, whether needed or not ... because that's their bread and butter.

You can talk to your parents about it. After reading through the comments you mentioned you were circumcised as a baby. There is a 100% chance that your parents are aware about the issue since they would have noticed it while changing your diapers. Surgery by a doctor is your best option, it will be very basic just cut and stitch.

However the doctor might give you the choice and do it without surgery. Basically they will tie multiple strings very tight the the sections near the head of the penis and leave them on. This will cause tissue to die are break apart similar how skin tags are removed. First visit will be to put strings on second will be to cut(wont feel a thing, like getting a haircut). This is the no blood/no pain/no swelling method.

Skin bridge. I am guessing that you circumcised and have had this since birth. Something that the hospital should have told your parents is to keep the remaining foreskin retracted after you were circumcised. The opened wound has healed back to the glans. See a surgeon and have it released surgically.

Oh dear! You have a skin bridge. This is a result of the raw wound of your circumcision that has re-attached to your glans. Your parents were to keep the remaining skin pushed back so this would not occur. See a doctor and have it corrected.
