I've been living with prostatitis for the last 5 years. My main problem is pain in my left testicle and frequent urination, 4-6 times need to go to toilet every night. I've tried all possible ways to treat and i still have these symptoms.

Dear Denny103

me too I have long suffered from chronic prostatitis, form 30 years of age on for about 10 years!! In my case, semen cultures were always positive for intestinal bacteria. Solutions came from VERY LONG antibiotic treatments (the last and more efficient was 90 days quinolonic [levoxacin] treatment). Omnic gave me relief and I'm still using it after some 15 years from when prostatitis decided to fade away. I'm now 54. Prostatitis gave me testicular pain due to epididimitis, and decreased also the quality of semen. So if you want children, antibiotics and antiinflammatory are probably the best choice. I succeeded in making my wife pregnant twice (even if unfortunately the first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage). So don not panic. You can have children. Moreover, many years have passed since then, and you should contact a very good andrologist to obtain the best advice about treatment and fertility. Psychosomatic reasons are often concurrent causes of chronic prostatitis. So try to avoid excessive stress.

Dear Denny103

I advice you to have your semen checked for infections. Remember that, despite what the medical report says, only a few antibiotics can enter our prostate. The most used are Bactrim, tetracyclins and quinolonics. I used all of them, but I developed an allergy to Bactrim, and anyway - I repeat - only the 90 days treatment with Levoxacin was quite effective. Antiinflammatory can help decongest your prostate, but a prolonged use is highly advised against due to renal toxicity. Some urologists prescribed me cortisonic suppositories, but in my case they did not work so well and I felt a discomfortable burning sensation in my rectum.

One urologist advice me to ejaculate quite a lot (between once a day to once a week). Not more, not less. In this way you should "wash out" the infected semen from your genital ways and prostate and seminal vescicles. I must say I did not follow his advice. Today anyway there are indications that frequent ejaculation reduces the risk of prostate cancer. I must say that in my case ejaculation was quite good (I had normal orgasms) but after some hours I felt a vague and discomfortable sensation in my testes and pelvis, so unfortunately my prostatitis decreased the quality and also the frequency of my sexual intercourses, because i was inhibited by the thought : "Oh My Goodness! Afterwards, I will feel that pain!!" I think you can understand.

Omnic (tamsulosin) has helped me a lot. Its main indication is for prostatic hypertrophy. But since it relaxes our muscles around our prostate, it betters the situation of the inflamed prostate and the correlated pain/discomfort. I have been using Omnic for about 15 years now. Quite good results. At the beginning it caused me retrograde ejaculation (your semen goes into your urinary bladder instead being squirted outside; your orgasm should not be different, but I was a little not at ease not cumming when I climaxed: but it is only a psychological condition anyway). Of course retrograde ejaculation makes you much less fertile. However, today I'm using Omnic each day and I ejaculate normally. So in my case it was a temporary side effect. You should take it into consideration if you are programming making your woman pregnant. If you have fertility problems, at least in Italy there are usually good andrologists in the infertility centers who can advise you how to obtain a maximum possible fertility. I did so and I made my wife pregnant twice in little more than a year. (I had been trying to make my wife pregnant for about two years before, without success)

Of course anyway, a good andrologist + a good specialist in infectious diseases can help you more than me. But I'm glad if my experience helps you somewhat.

Be brave! You will succeed in defeating your prostatitis. Or at least to live with it without symptoms. For example: I did some semen examination after the symptoms were gone, and I did find still bacteria!! But they advised me to live side by side with these bacteria, which evidently have no longer the power to inflame significantly my prostate.

An examination that you could also do is cystoscopy. I did. I was terrified: putting one pipe into my cock up to the bladder!! I must confess, it is not so bad. I felt a short (1-2 seconds) burning sensation when the urologist started inserting the pipe, then nothing more. So if your urologist/andrologist advises you to undergo cystoscopy, don't panic, keep calm. It is not as bad as many people say!

Bye for now, and if you wish let me know!

Nick

The presence of bacteria in the prostate is extremely difficult to eradicate and I speak from experience. After suffering from bacterial prostatitis for over 27 years I decided to have it removed and glad I did. I am finally free from this horrible disease and living life to the fullest!

Dear goldie11,

Thank you very much! I haven't tried any herbal medicine. Maybe I should try diuretic anti-inflammatory pill. Hope it works.
