Phimosis

I was circumcised at age 5 due to a tight foreskin. This seems odd as i have read that this is a last resort and i dont think any other methods were used first It wasn't painful unless i pulled it back and was done under the NHS. Did i really need to be circumcised?

Probably not. I had exactly the same and I recall that I was referred for circumcision but the hospital appointment never came through. My parents did not chase the appointment and I recall I was told to gradually keep retracting my foreskin over a period of time and this worked.

I agree, I had the same until I was about 20. It was 'cured' by a lady getting vigorous on top. It was quite painful I remember, and I since learnt that it could have torn and been quite messy. So had I known I would have opted for gentle regular retraction. I didn't even know about circumcision though and was quite oblivious.

I had to be circumcised due to possible health implications, listed elsewhere on site. My foreskin had always been tight and not a problem until recently.

I am 52 and my Brother 55, he was circumcised as a baby due to tight foreskin. If I had been done then could I have avoided the problems now ? I will never know, and do not worry about what could or should have been.

Probably not much help to you but we cannot change what has been done.

Probably doctors considered circumcision was required at your 5 years age . How old are you now . Have you used it properly without any problem? Then what's the problem ?

I understand the clinical and religious reasons for circumcision but I'm so glad and thankful that I still have mine in tact.

Absolutely NOT. From birth to any age prepuberty (and even sometimes beyond) a phimotic state is entirely normal and natural.

Under the NHS, no one is subjected to FREE circumcision surgery at any age - let alone the age of five - unless some underlying and rare medical indication is apparent. Please either acknowledge this fact, or explain exactly why you were circumcised.

I was circumcised as an adult in March 2001, the final result of genital abuse as a boy.

Hi Random

Following family tradition all the males were circumcised before being sent to boarding school. Was your father cut ? May be medical advice at the time was to circumcise you.
