I don't think you need to keep it bone dry after the first 48-72 hours but it depends on what method was used. I just turned round in the shower so it was mainly on my back. First washes of my penis were a quick dip in warm salty water to clean up the blood and unstick pubes.

what kind of salt do you use for the salt water cleansing? i'm about 8 days into recovery and still have some dried blood around the incision even after showering. not entirely sure how to get it cleaned up and have been wondering about the salt water thing i've seen a lot of people talking about

Just table salt will do. Dissolve it in hot water and let it cool to a comfortable temperature before using it
