Hi ive been circumcised for nearly 5 weeks now still swelling and very sensitive glans. I have been applying vaseline on glans before and I realized sometimes it doesnt completely get absorbed into the glans which became a pain to wipe it off. I now stopped using vaseline and started applying coconut oil instead. I've seen lots of posts recommend using coconut oil and am wondering if it actually helps desensitize glans, as after applying it actually feels even more sensitive and is that normal?

Well, if you have had thick layer of petroleum jelly on glans, then coconut oil is much more lighter and feels different for sure. Coconut oil is used for moisturizing skin, scar and as a personal lubricant, not to desensitize the glans.

When i dont apply oil my glans dry out and starts peeling , is there other ways to desensitize?

Peeling off once or twice after the operation is normal. Time will help you to get used to friction and touch of clothes.

its been around a month after op , i tried wearing underwear and when its dry it tends to stick to the cloth not sure why

I had the same issue while applying coconut oil than I did the below practice

Night only apply very thin layer coconut oil and immediately touch around the glad with tissue paper .so that minimal oil quantity maintain on our gland ,this procedure helped me to reduced the skin peeling.

I read you recent posts. I'm not sure has your wound even healed yet.

Is there still that moist spot underside (ventral) of you penis?

To where do you apply that 'Polysporin' antibiotic ointment?

Is there an infection on your penis glans or on that moist spot?

What part of your penis exactly tends to stick to cloth?

My wound is basically 80-90% healed except for still pretty swollen. I had an mild infection 2 weeks back on the back side of glans and doctor prescribed me antibiotics which took care of it. And I have not started applying polysporin yet which the doctor recommends to apply on glans due to hypersensitivity. It’s the front part that tends to stick to cloth. And for some reason the back part of glans are even more sensitive and still a bit pale colour.

Polysporin is not used for hypersensitivity, IMO. It's antibiotic ointment. It's based on same white vaseline/petrolatum etc. than normal Vaseline, but has two different antibiotics on it.

I'm not sure why my doctor recommended me to use polysporin instead of vaseline

I was prescribed polysporin to prevent infection. I only used it for the first week or so!
