Circumcision healing question

I'm currently on day 27 of my circumcision and from the looks of it, I got a low and tight or low and average cut. The stitches have all been gone for about a week and a half but there are a few areas under the skin right up against the head that haven't even seemed to begin to heal. I've gone to the doctor once a week to make sure everything looks OK and he's told me that it's fine. I'm just starting to get concerned my healing time is going to far exceed 6 weeks. Since my skin covers the wound I can't get air to it like I would hope to keep it dry. Anyone else have or had this issue and what did you do to try and promote healing?

I forgot to mention I was last told to keep it wrapped in gauze and apply bacitracin to it every other day once. It's still just taking forever it seems.

Thanks I appreciate. Is once every other day enough though? He was saying it thins the skin and using too much wouldn't be a good thing though.

Wound care every second day is enough, if there is not much discharge anymore. Time is a healer now. If you scrape a new thin skin layer off twice a day it won't (ever) heal..

Eveytime I remove the bandage right before showering, there's a little bit of blood and sometimes yellowish skin but not very much anymore at all. I just wanted to make sure wrapping it instead of trying to keep it uncovered is the best. I appreciate the response.

If there is a direct contact between wound and bandage make sure it won't stuck in by applying petroleum jelly on it or use a strip of paraffin gauze. There is also non-adhesive dressing available like 'Mepilex' or 'Polymem'. You can cut them to pieces, too.

Thanks for the links. I looked them over and watched some YouTube videos on moist wound environments. Have any of you used hydrogel for circumcision wounds ?

I did use medical honey ointment on open wound and later on the moist spots on incision line and used strips of 'Duoderm Extra thin' -hydrocolloid dressing too.

How often did you change the dressing out ? And were you only cleaning the wound area once during showers ?

At the end of the third week I did wound care once a day after shower. My wound healed on 31st day post-op. I started to use silicone scar sheet on 34th day..

I’m just coming up to a month this Sunday mate all my stitches have gone but under near my head near the banjo I had a open wound and the other day it became all fleshy again and opened back up but the next day there was a scab there I only ever covered mine for a week or so from my experience not covering it and letting air get to it is deffo the best way for it to heal faster putting ointments and things on I can’t see how that can help as it just makes it moist again that’s my opinion anyway mate hope this helps

Sorry to hear you had a minor setback. I've had one as well prior and it really messes with your mental. I'm hoping by week 6 I'm functional.

Exposing it to air is the best way to go in my opinion. I was also concerned myself about the stitches on that part which were always damp and didn't progress as much as the others. I did, though, noticed that from the first week, since the stitches on the side looked in much better condition.

No need to use a gauze all the time. If you are at home, wear some loose boxers and joggers to keep it "airy". I also made sure to spent 10 minutes with that part exposed by pulling down the skin just enough to uncover stitches. You do no want to stretch it too much and risk opening the wound. By day 27 mine were definitely gone.

Eventually, if another week passes by and they still haven't dropped, but the wounds seems totally healed, you could provide a little assistance by rubbing each stitch with the tip of your finger while soaking your penis in lukewarm water/chamomile tea. The stitches on my frenulum took longer to drop, that's where I used the rubbing technique.

My stitches are all gone. It's just a few small areas that I assume need secondary healing thays taking the longest. I'm off weekends so I'll try airing it out. During work hours it's comfortable to have it wrapped so it doesn't run on my underwear as much. I'm close but these few areas are taking forever which sucks.
