I can only masterbate when I sleep, any advice?

Sooo I've only ever truly masterbated during nocturnal emission since my teen years, but never actively did it while I was awake (religious upbringing). So sadly, I truly don't know how to do this...I can get it hard of course and I've tried feeling it, also dry humping my bed, looking at my favorite pics or videos and I guess I've only leaked a bit, not fully let it go. Any advice anyone, because this does concern me in any possible future sexual relationships I may have...

I guess you have never really masturbated. Ejaculating when you are asleep is involuntary whereas masturbation does require you to be doing it voluntarily. What age are you?

Hey thanks for responding. 26, 27 in March. Yeah, I've never done it voluntarily since it was frowned upon in my home growing up. Only ever "released" during a wet dream.

You need a lubricant ONLY if you are circumcised. You can use any skin moisturizer you may be having - preferably use something that’s perfume free and gentle on skin. Don’t use petroleum jelly. You can also a water based lubricant (via amazon) or natural (unperfumed) coconut oil.

Nope, never even knew they existed lol. That does sound like a good idea to be honest, thank you! I was thinking of talking to my PCP...but I dunno, that'd be too awkward imo...might seek a therapist out for this one. I'll experiment first, see if I can truly do this by experimenting...then if not, seek one out. Thanks again.

There are actually videos online on how to masturbate, especially for guys who have been circumcised. Less embarrassing and I doubt you need therapy about it! For lube, everyone has a different preference (mine is baby oil) but anything from your own spit to olive oil to purpose made lube will do but not detergents like shampoo which will irritate and dry out the head. The most important thing for you is to not feel guilty about it and you need to learn what feels good for when you do marry. Think of it as research

Hi, I guess if you don't masturbate you haven't looked at a lot of porn either? What I'd suggest is looking at porn of men masturbating (often called Solo) not as a turn-on but for educational purposes. My guess is that you won't have problems when you marry and have a sexual relationship because this is not frowned on/forbidden in religion. Having said that most people consider masturbation just fine and healthy, and even religiously it's a very minor sin.
