Shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction

Circedandlovingit profile image

Has anyone here ever tried shockwave therapy to treat their erectile dysfunction? I know it's available in many areas, but it's expensive and insurance companies won't pay for it.

Well, I've heard that men who got the "Electric Chair" had massive boners after.

I thought that was hanging ?

That too, as well as a few other causes of death.

jaglad in reply to

There is only one true cause of death.

Lack of breath ! Gets 'em every time.

in reply to jaglad

No, it's heart failure. The heart can beat for a while after the breathing stops.

My dad had a massive stroke the night before he died that left him in a coma.

About midday his breathing stopped. It was a good 10 minutes or so before his heart stopped.

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

But I don't know of anyone still breathing after death.

in reply to jaglad

What I said was he was still alive but not breathing.

Sounds like you haven't heard of it. It's also called low intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy.

Shockwave therapy uses energy from acoustic waves to trigger a process called neovascularization in certain parts of the body. ... Recently, scientists have investigated low-intensity shockwave therapy to help men with erectile dysfunction (ED). Blood flow is critical to a man's erections.

It was a bit of a shock when I could no longer keep my erection I can tel you !

However, not heard of it. Is it similar to the sex aids you can buy that sends small electric pulses through your genitalia ?

No. This is something done in a doctors office. My Urologist has the machine in his office. It's called Gainswave. The are several other similar versions of shock wave therapy available in various countries. You need about 5 or 6 treatments and it's quite expensive.

I’m sorry to hear that jaglad, did you ask your doctor why you could no longer maintain an erection?

jaglad profile image
jaglad in reply to

No, I never bothered. Things have improved now, but generally if I cannot get hard again we just pleasure each other in other ways.

It can be frustrating but I live with it.

in reply to jaglad

I’m glad that you have been resourceful and finding other ways still get pleasure yourselves. It’s always good to know what the issue is and try to fix it. I understand that it can be frustrating and wish you the best going forward.

Have you you tried using PDE5 inhibitors such as Viagra and Cialis? They work for many men. I've had great results with them. For something more permanent, the shock wave treatments could be the answer. Talk with your GP or Urologist about it.

jaglad profile image
jaglad in reply to Circedandlovingit

Yes we do use Viagra and similar on occasion and it works well.

Not sure I like the sound of shock-wave therapy but may look into it if things become worse.

Electro-shock therapy is a modern day (1900's) replacement for the old "Snake Oil" from the 1800's. More-or-less a cure-all for-all but in reality did nothing unless you suffered from constipation (was usually mineral oil with some flavoring).

I wouldn't trust my life to someone playing with electricity.

Doctor Frankenstein comes to mind here.

Now if you're referring to the "fetish use" electronic gadget, that only works if everything but your "common sense" is working properly.

Buy a bathmate and use daily and should save €£€$ and help you get a hardon and will also assist blood flow to the dick m8 over time

That one is similar to other pumps such as the Encore that comes with rings. They do work well but don't eliminate the problem. The shock wave therapies are suppose to rejuvinat the penis by eliminating plaque, repairing aged blood vessels, and stimulating growth of new blood vessels.

Will this help with growing more shaft skin?

The vacuum pumps might help with stretching.

Interesting. I have no interesting in a bigger penis. I just wanted to have more loose skin on my shaft because I was left with almost no shaft skin. A lot of the stretched skin on my shaft is either from the base of my penis or from the scrotum

I meant stretching of shaft skin. The increase in size is probably just temporary.

Yes, I'm having it right now.

You get a sgtrong erection during the treatment. It s quite nice actually.

Doc says I ll need to do it a few times to see firm erections coming back more often.

Which one are you getting? In the USA right now, and there may be others, 'gainswave' is the one being used. In Canada and some other countries, the ED1000 machine by Medispec is also being used.

Hi, I'm trying this therapy too.

The reason is that I was diagnosed with venous leakage.

I started the therapy one week ago and until now I attended two sessions. Here (I'm from Romania, Europe) it consists of 10 sessions, one per week, of around 20 minutes of low intensity shock waves. The machine is Storz, made in Switzerland I think. Besides these 20 minutes of shock waves per week, the treatment consists of 5 mg of Tadalafil substance (Cials is the brand of the pill) at every three days, plus the use of the penile vacuum pump 10 minutes per day. The medic says that low intensity shock waves should create new blood vessels and Tadalafil plus penile pump should bring more blood to them in order to make them functional. Before I started the treatment I was let known that the rate of success is around 50%, probably 50% of the patients achieve very good results. Though, the rest would feel some improvements too. The cost of the treatment is around $1,000 which is, let's say, the equivalent of the country's average salary per month multiplied by 2.

It is said the good results should appear after 5-6 sessions. Since I started the treatment I have had some good erections, but they are due to Tadalafil (Cialis). It has a good effect of some 36 hours. I think the vacuum pump also helps. Nevertheless , they don't cure the cause, they just cancel the effects. As long as you take the pills and use the pump, you have results. When you gave up, you turn back to the problem.

The long term effects it is supposed to be done by the low intensity shock waves. We will see. I'm not so optimistically, but you never know. Anyway, in this moment I don't know other better option.

I will come back with a message after another few sessions.

Good luck, guys!

Hi Guys, apologies for this late reply.

Honestly, for me didn't have the result I needed. I felt some improvement, but not near to what I need for good sexual intercourse.

It's true, if I were in a relationship probably the results would have been better. It's also true that a sexual psychologist would have helped too. And also it is said that this technique it suited more properly to men with the blood didn't come to penis. In my case, the part with the blood coming in it's quite ok, but the blood it's not trapped there, in goes out faster that should go.

We'll see what other techniques we could try. I think the pills do have results, but as long as nothing is spontaneous, there is no fun. If you have had a wife for 15 years and you had 10 years of good spontaneous sex, she will be good with the pills. But if you want to start a new relationship, I'm afraid not many women will agree with nothing spontaneous, but just scheduled sex.

Yes, I did it last week, 3 sessions for about 500 euros (a fortune, indeed).

I asked it to be done by a male nurse , as I thought I'd be more at ease with a guy for such an intimate treatment.

He was very king and professional. I got a boner the 3 ties, and even ejaculated one time (he told me it was normal part of the process to develop self-confidence).

I feel OK, but I still have days "with" and days "without"

Circedandlovingit profile image
Circedandlovingit in reply to martintrente

I've read where they say it takes a little time to get the full results. Are you going back for more sessions in the future. 3 sessions in the USA costs about $1500 at this time, but prices could come down as it becomes more available and different devices are approved for use. I don't mind female doctors or nurses doing it because I usually have a great rapport with them.

Hello,

It works but causes other issues as well.

Speak to doctor and find the underlined cause of the erectile dysfunction (that’s what needs to be addressed) before you go for something that extreme. I have helped a few people with this issue successfully previously. There are certain medications side effects that causes this problem to occur.

Hope that you check with your doctor to find out what is causing it.

I wish you all the best.

Circedandlovingit profile image
Circedandlovingit in reply to

What are some of the issues caused by Shockwave therapy? Most men with ED have already spent a lot of time discussing the problem with their doctors. Could you explain how you have helped men with ED?

in reply to Circedandlovingit

Hello,

I see it as extreme but I understand that others in the actual situation and need a relief may not see it the way.

From what I know, Shockwave therapy works best among men with vasculogenic erectile dysfunction which is why I was asking the cause. There was a study done on 20 men with vasculogenic erectile dysfunction and all experienced improved erectile function after 6 months of shockwave treatment.

But there are side effects from that level of trauma to such a sensitive part of the body such as penile bruising, hematoma, hematuria, infection of penile skin, painful erections, progression of lower urinary tract symptoms and difficulty having intercourse secondary to infection or pain and sometimes bloodclot.

I accidentally came across something significant that has been quite beneficial when my uncle who had been on heartburn medication for over 8 years started having erectile dysfunction I realized it was a side effect and we were able to fix it so I looked further into the issue and was pleasantly surprised. Sometimes there is nothing actually wrong except for a side effect from previous medications but it can be quite difficult to speak to your doctor about that issue.

My uncle was very angry when he found out that I was telling the truth and confronted his doctor (I don’t think that is a good idea) just ask your doctor indirectly what is causing it if you are feeling shy or slightly apprehensive.

I helped them by providing information about the cause and the best way forward once that has been discovered.

in reply to

It has to be remembered that all classes of heartburn medication are not the same and not everyone gets that side effect or, indeed, any side effect.

Yes went through sessions about 16 months. Expensive ($3,500.00) and did not feel it did anything to help me. They tried to sell me another six sessions but could not see spending more on something that did not work for me.

Hi I did 6 sessions so far and I saw some improvement right after the sessions but it didnt last so far. ED is caused by my medication (Prozac). I will see with the doctor at the shockwave clinic if we must continue. I will keep you posted.
