Have any of you experienced brief times of soreness on spots of your head?

I call them geysers -I liken it to a sensation of pressure releasing. I am 6 months post viral meningitis, and am better for the most part. I still fatigue and become shakey if I have been too busy.

Yes I have had sore spots right on top of my head. Sore to light touch, like an acute bruise. It disappears as fast as it occurs, here today and gone tomorrow. It is 2 years post bacterial meningitis. The fatigue and imbalance that worsens with fatigue continues. This sight seems to be the only venue that lets me know that these symptoms are common. The Drs are very vague with any prognosis. Thanks for sharing. Prayers and kind regards, Jeffery

yes you will have sore spots, head and joints, you will laugh at this but i use VIC to help with pain, as too many pain killers will cause you more pain, also i use a tenns machine for hip and and back pain, if you are worried go back to your doc, best of luck ho

I had VM a year ago. I have a cold patch on top of my head that was always there after VM but is only there every now and again. I wear woolly hats. The cold patch feels cold but it is more like a pain area. Heat seemed to help.

Thanks for your comments. It seems strange to me so I feel assured that I'm not alone. I wonder what causes the sensation- what is physically happening. Anyone know?

Hi Sandy2, that did make me laugh "geysers", if we cant laugh at ourselves eh?! I do have really sore spots on my head too. THe scalp is covered in muscle too and fascia (the face material of muscle) so I think it may be trigger points in the muscle i.e. bundles of irritated hyperactive nerve cells within the fascia causing this sensation. I press on mine, like I would a trigger point I suppose. Not sure that it actually helps, but it just feels I want to do that! crazy or what? Acupuncture to the upper cervical muscles also helps me. I also think that it may be referred pain, i.e. from an area in the neck as I am sure like most of is you still have spasm in your neck muscles. If I get someone to press on the area of neck muslce (not too hard) it refers to the spot on my head. There is certainly a trigger point in the sternomastoid muscle (neck to clavicle) that has a referral point to the top of the head. My theory anyway, though you are right if you tried to explain this to a GP they would probably just glaze over!!! However most physiothera;ists wouldnt. as it all makes sense to them. Its very annoying but keep your head warm is always a good idea I think, mine hates being cold, I never owned so many woolie hats and this winter has been rubbish so I live in them! Hope it feels better soon

I am going on 4 yrs post encephalomenigitis. I have these pain spots on top of my head too. I thought I was being too sensitive. But they seem to occur when I am tired, stressed, or my brain is over stimulated. Hurts to the touch and I get disoriented. I also have ear fluttering and hear music sometimes. I just rest when my head tells me to.
