Had a lumbar puncture and then received agressive antibiotic treatment. Was unconcious for all this.

Hi Akki, corps1 hasn’t been active here for five years, so is unlikely to reply. Your question may be answered however by one of the posts below which describes 4 weeks in intensive care, “all unconscious.”

I hope you manage to find a solution to your mum’s problems. Good luck.

I had a spinal tap both times I had viral meningitis. I went to the ER both.times and was admitted and stayed for 3 days and given IV's.

I was initially given migralieve, then (in A&E) co-codamol and morphine. On being transferred to another ward, I was then given acyclovir and another antibiotic (both drips), and a lumbar puncture before a final diagnosis. All of that was eventually followed by strong painkillers.

I was told of my meningitis by nhs direct, if it wasn't for the nurse on the phone that night I wouldn't be here. As I was so ill. (Given 6hours to live) I was then put straight onto drips of antibiotics etc and the 12 hours later a lumbar puncture was done to confirm their thoughts. When it was done the doctor apparently commented on that she hadn't seen spinal fluid like mine was.
