I have been struggling with health issues for about 6 months. My main symptoms are extreme light sensitivity and occasional migraines (set off by the light sensitivity). After consulting with tons of doctors (neuro, eye doctors, ENT & allergy, etc.) - 1 of my doctor's theories is that I had undiagnosed viral meningitis back in June (where I had a 14 day "flu" like illness - achy body and extreme fatigue) and that while the viral meningitis is gone, I am feeling remnants of it and after effects. I went to an infectious disease doctor that they don't feel like this is correct but no one has been able to give me a clear answer. Has anyone here had viral meningitis (undiagnosed when they had it) and had long after effects? Thank you
Hi yes I had an undiagnosed viral meningitis mine came 2 years ago after having the flu virus at that time the flu virus killed my olfactory nerves so I lost complete smell and taste then I started with extreme light sensitivity and brain fog and not felling my self a doctor told me he thought when the virus attacked my olfactory nerves it also went in to the meninges and cause me to have viral meningitis until this day I have good and bad days with the light sensitivity and is been 2 years
OMGosh! 10 months out and I am still reading this forum. What does that say? God bless you! Many long lasting effects. Be strong and REMEMBER you are not crazy. This stuff is awful. Got up to go to work this morning and the dizziness and brain fog are there once again. Yes, I was diagnosed, but it took a month and all that times my symptoms got worse. Words of advice? Keep going and remember you will have good days and bad. It is a head game influenced by physical symptoms.
I had diagnosed VM and feel what you're feeling now. Lightsensitivity and fatigue, joint pain, neck pain, stiff neck and random migraines.
During the VM, my head felt like it was going to explode and I literally just wanted my head gone. I thought I had a massive brain tumor invading my brain. I know it sounds extreme but that's seriously how I felt. Did you have a stiff neck and horrible headache?
Sorry about what you're going through... here to help.
