How to get rid of hydrocephalus if CSF is infected.I am thinking VP shunt is not an option at this point.Patient is my mom,51. From India.

Admit since 22/8. Symptoms were a severe headache, multiple vomiting. An EVD shunt was placed back on 24/8. Post it was removed, there was a good sign of recovery until she got infections everywhere - in blood, in urine, in trachea, in CSF.

We Stayed in that hospital for almost 48 days until we lost patience with them and 12 days back on 9/9 we shifted her to a different hospital in a bigger city - Kolkata in a neuro only hospital.

EVD shunt was again placed on day1 24/8 and then an endoscopic septoscomy was done due to progressive hydrocephalus.

All this while in this new hospital she had her eyes open but today (21/10), she is again not able to open her eyes. EVD shunt was removed yesterday.

All this while she was/is in ICU.

Anyone know anything similar. Any leads ???
