One thing after another :(

Hoping someone can help me.... my daughter at 1 had mengicocal septicaemia, we are nearly 8 years down the road and things aren't getting easier I'm not going to lie things are getting more and more difficult. She had bi lateral foot amputations so further surgery has been needed and believe it or not that's the easy part!! So my issues are she struggles badly at school concentration levels are so low although she is such a lovely and well behaved girl at school. then we have some sort of anxiety issues where as she gets horrendous stomach pain and regularly has accidents (number 2) this could be because she got something exciting happening at school like school photo day or because she is dreading something like her Sats I have been passed pillar to post by doctors basically saying there is nothing wrong with her she is nearly 9 and this is not normal having a conversation with her she has told me when she gets the pain she cant make it to the toilet most of the time so today she had an accident at school she is in year 4 and I know this will end up leading to bullying and I really don't want this. Has someone here suffered anything similar can anyone recommend anything I'm at l wits end and my heart is breaking for her.

Hi!

Your daughter must be a very special little girl.

I don't have experience or expertise with mengicocal septicaemia. I had viral meningitis in June from which I am no where near recovered, but I can say that my bowels are not the same as they were prior. I am sorry for what you and your daughter are going through.

I'm wondering if there is any physiotherapy specialty or any other branch of medicine that deals with bowel training and psychology. Have you checked osteopathy? Again, I have no experience with either, but these are two things that come to mind.

It sounds like your daughter communicates well with you.

Hopefully someone on this forum can give you some advice.

Lots of love to you and your daughter.

Hi!

I was never diagnosed but there is no question in my mind that I had meningitis in 1964. So, all I can offer are suggestions.

Have your daughter checked (blood work) for MTHFR. If she has it, she will need a more expensive vitamin (can purchase online). MTHFR includes a gluten free diet-it’s not that difficult but a bit more expensive.

Due to my constant nausea, I lived on Benadryl and aspirin for pain. I now take phenergan in low doses.

Maybe find a Lyme literate doctor. Specific antibiotics for Lyme helped me.

Don’t give up -mom’s know best. 😁

Thanks very much for your reply... it’s so hard getting an appointment at the doctors and the it’s explaining to them about meningitis because everyone I come across has never had to deal with it (then give me a doctor that has) but I am trying to get an appt ASAP so will discuss this with the doctor then. I’ve even went as far as speaking to the doctor who was in shift on the day she took bad but awaiting her reply.

Maybe ask for H-Pylori and Giardia testing.

I suffered with something similar a few years ago. The pain is terrible. The doctor puyt me on Bentyl. I started out with 1 pill every 4 hours. This didn't help. He increased the dosage to two 10 mg pills every 4 hours. This did the trick! I backed off on the dosage after a while. Believe me, the pains were as bad as labor pains when i would have an attack and you can't hold the diarrea. Hope this helps for your little one. My grandaughter had the same thing and it helps her. God bless.

She will have had massive doses of antibiotics in her life, which as a side-effect will have knocked out all the good gut bacteria. So see a pharmacist and try a good probiotic perhaps (pills I'd guess, not just yoghurt so it gets where it's needed)
