Hair Loss after VM

I had viral meningitis in September this year and over the last 3 weeks have lost almost half my hair!

Reading these posts has given me such hope! Thank you!

It’s a pity doctors don’t seem to know about these side effects!

I had bacterial meningitis and was critically ill i spent 3 weeks in hospital and my recovery slow but like you my hair started falling out like anything. my GP has been very good and did blood tests my immune system was pretty much all messed up and i was anaemic so i was given lots off boosters and iron tablets and im very happy to say 6 months on my hair is growing back

Oh yes. I am still losing it when I have bouts of relapses and it’s been 4 months.

I had VM nearly 2yrs ago & I lost lots of hair & even eyebrow hair which didn’t grow back. I think it’s a side effect but like you said, doctors don’t know enough. My doctor told me it wasn’t connected but I’m 100% sure it is.

Trust your instincts & you’ll find your way to recovery. It’s been a long journey for me, nearly 2yrs on & still recovering.

im 11 weeks into recovery, i'm so tired, my hair loss is vast and my eyes are still blurry. I wake every morning with headache. i feel so fatigued how long does this last, 2yrs for you I dont know how you cope?
