I have just been diagnosed with VM for the 3rd time since 2013. I pretend I am getting better to my friends and family but that is not how I feel. Panic sets in every time I get a headache or my neck gets tight. Will I ever feel safe again?

You should check out mollarets.org from the Mollaret’s Meningitis Association. Mollaret’s Meningitis is recurrent viral meningitis and is a rare disease. We have a very active support group on Facebook that I think would be a great help to you. Facebook.com/groups/MMSuppo...

Same here. I’m 68 and felt fatigued for months. Lost 60 pounds. Then I started with the headache but no fever. Within 2 days I was expressive aphasia. I was not in a coma according to my family. Someone stayed 24/7. They said I just slept all the time. I was easily agitated. But responsive. After the appropriate treatment started, I was transferred to a rehab. I had to work on balance, strengthening, I was number and word aphasia. So I had to learn to calculate in my head.... thankfully it all came back. I occ have a period when tired I word search. Speech, occupational, and physical therapy were a great blessing to me. I’ve been home independently for 3 weeks. My kids bring groceries, etc. I drove for 1st time last week. It was good. Needed to prove to myself I am OK. However, I understand completely the foreboding feeling when a headache comes on or my neck feels stiff or strained. I require a nap every day. I can’t say I’m at 100% or ever will be. But I do empathize with you all. My prayers are with you all.

Oh dear, that is tough.(In real life I would've used stronger language). I've had VM twice in 5 years. Inbetween I did get back to full fitness. This time, seems to be much slower recovery. The fatigue and my kneck is soooo stiff frequently. Doc thinks it has triggered Fibromyalgia (not going to kill me but a right old pain to live with.) I am terrified of picking up germs or viruses. My best advise is to be alert to symptoms and make sure your doctor is aware so they can also keep an eye on things.

Please give my daughter's story a read on this site. Rosie S's Story. Here lies sugnificant success (from what we know so far), for complete recovery from VM!

She suffered for near on two years before discovering meningitis now, subsequently trying cranial massage by visiting an independant cranial osteopath in her area.

It seems the key, and recent breakthrough, is releasing the spinal fluid which VM leaves a blockage for...and enabling it to flow again through your body, particularly your head.

There are some on this sight who have now given it a go after reading about it, and after just a couple of sessions, felt considerable relief.

I the last few days Rosie and I have been contacted by the media, news papers and radio to tell our story of this potential breakthrough!

We now feel we want to help as many poor people who have suffered this dreadful illness for which before now seemed there was no light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck and please keep posed how you get on if you try this amazing treatment. Rosie coupled this with acupuncture, having alternate treatments once a week, now a couple of months in. Xx

I had this treatment last year and it was SO Fabulous for my headaches. Was very impressed with the explaination about the flow through my brain. It totally matched my description of how it felt. I too am recommending this treatment to others. I still see the same osteo for top up treatments especially around me kneck & shoulders. So pleased for Rosie and for you as a mum.

Thank you so much..Rosie is feeling much better, even back to the gym and going on long runs. Her job with horses and dogs is physically demanding and that's all back to normal, where as the cranial osteopath, with her low energy levels, was amazed she got out of bed in the mornings post VM, let alone coping with her work! Good luck, I'm sorry you have had this awful illness recurring, but knowing there is some relief it bit of a light at the end of the tunnel for when you're at your darkest moments. X

All the symptoms you are experiencing are pretty much similar to what she suffered. It seems the key, and recent breakthrough, is releasing the spinal fluid which VM leaves a blockage for...and enabling it to flow again through your body, particularly your head.
