It's nearly a year since my 2nd bout of VM. I have drepression and all my fatigue, aches & pains have been diagnosed as fybromyalgia triggered by the VM. Just wondering if anyone else had the same diognosis.

Yes i now have fibromyalgia as well. No research has been done to show a definite link but a lot of people do go on after Meningitis to develop fibromyalgia and some other neurological conditions. However, fibromyagia is a common condition that many people develop having not had Meningitis so there is the possibility that you may have developed it anyway had you not had VM.

Thanks Strawberry Cream, I was just curious. This is like a never ending really bad dream isn't it.

Yes for me it has definitely changed my physical health, wellbeing and has left me susceptible to other conditions. There are people who aren't left with longer term after effects but they don't usually continue to post on here as getting on with their lives. Hopefully if you can get your depression treated with medication and/or therapy you will cope with things a bit better. That's good to read that you are persistent with doctors to get the needed help.

Best wishes

Hi abracad

I hope your having a good day?

So if you dont mind me asking where did it come about diagnosing you with this? I feel gps just let you get on with the side effects and are reluctant in diagnosing things other than a side effect

It is very difficult with GP's. I have just kept going back and basically if you still have the same symptoms over a period of time, they start to look at it differently. In December the GP sent me to A&E because of the reduced semsation in my legs and the Senior Dr there told my I had to 'Stop thinking that I was ill' Mostly I have encountered sympathy and understanding but I have been forceful in making it clear that I am trying to get better. Eating well etc. I feel at the moment that I need to get my depression under control before I can begin to cope with news of a long term condition. Go back to your GP with any persistant symptoms, there may be something they can do to help. Good Luck.
