TIL infusion complete now with the clinical trial Team in our room all morning. Dr Phan bedside in striped shirt, RN's Jenn and Steph In scrubs. Oncology NP's Courtney and Stephanie ran the actual cell transfers while Charles kept track of all the research documentations of thaw, start, flush and finish times. Wayne did great. Got some rigors at the end of the 4th bag of cells so got 12.5 mg Demerol to stop the shakes. Likely side effect of the DMSO medium the cells are grown in or the little big of IL-2 mixed with the cells
Big IL-2 infusions start about 2:30 today and run once every 8 hours for up to 6 doses, or until he can't tolerate them anymore. IL2 helps the TIL cells expand and proliferate.
Time for those TIL cells to get to work kicking some melanoma butt!
Peace
Missy

So happy that things are moving along ! Keeping my best thoughts for Wayne . May this procedure be successful for Wayne now and for others in the future . I am also grateful for these researchers who are putting their brilliant minds to work so that this disease can be cured
