Covid caught me 😩

Well I'm feeling rather sorry for myself 😩

Covid finally caught me.. and I've not ran now for 8 whole days!!!!

Starting to feel a little better today,so I'm hoping to get out early in the week 🀞

Worried I will have to shorten my distance for a few runs, and worried what effects covid will have on themπŸ˜₯

It's really messing with my head, not being physical.. trying to be patient but it's very frustrating..

I just want to Run!!! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Eat good, sleep well, drink water. All will be well. Oh! Stay positive πŸ˜€πŸ’ͺ

Recovery runs will be the order of the day. You’ll feel a bit like you’ve got odd shoes on for a day or two but you’ll soon get back to it. Be patient and see how it goes πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Sorry to hear that, hope you're fully recovered and back to your normal running routine soon (though all the advice I've seen isn't to rush it!).

Ahh sparky, that’s rotten luck, and I feel your frustration.πŸ‘Ž

Just take it gently when you start back up. No heroics! Test the waters and see how you feel, but keep the distances short to begin with and I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine. Personally, I found running post Covid (albeit a mild case) was no worse than coming back from a cold. Hopefully you’ll be the same! 🀞

Sorry to hear that sparky66 . I've not had Covid, as far as I know, but I've just had a two-week break because of hip and back problems. For several days I couldn't even walk without limping, let alone run, so I can sympathise with your frustration.

However, it might help you to know that I went out and ran 5.5k yesterday with no problems, deliberately taking it very easy and keeping elevation to a minimum by my usual standards. Although I was thinking of running again today I've decided it'd be wiser to wait until tomorrow. I've not done a decent long run for weeks, either, but it'll have to wait. I need to learn that I don't have to prove myself every time I go out to run. It was really lovely to be back out there and that will do for now.

Hope you're able to run again as you want before too long!

in reply to Cmoi

That is just such a wonderful mindset πŸ‘

Cmoi profile image
CmoiMarathon in reply to

Thanks Hidden . That mindset is a struggle for me tbh. Even yesterday I found myself thinking "If you ran up there instead of here, you'd get in a bit more elevation" and "You could easily go further, you haven't done 10k for ages" and loads more. But it was a beautiful day, so I concentrated on the views and on the fact that when I got home I still felt good.

in reply to Cmoi

Ah yes, I understand all too well those internal battles we go through. It is just so nice though when we can satisfy ourselves (eventually) that what we have done is the right thing to have done πŸ‘

So pleased to hear you're beginning to recover from your injuries Cmoi 😁That first run must have been very daunting! But huge well done and I wish you well on the road back to your normal πŸ™

Thank you!

Yes I will just be so happy to run again,

Yes it's a knockback but slow and surely I'm sure I will get back to mine πŸ™

I ran 3 times in early January, after just over 3 weeks after catching Covid. Then I got another sort of bug and have been out of training over 2 weeks. Be careful with getting back to training. Everyone is different, of course, but clearly my immune system has been weakened after getting over Covid. Hopefully I'll be back later this week with some short slow runs.

Go steady…..everyone recovers differently. I had it very mild but my lung function is where I felt it for more weeks than I expected it. I know of others that it wasn’t any worse than a cold and seemed to bounce back quickly to previous distances. Just be kind to yourself and feel your way….good luck!
