Staying overnight with 1 daughter en route to the peak district to stay with another... Thought I would get in run 2 early, before the heat, so set off at 5.30. It's so very different running along pavements and around streets in a relatively unknown area. I find myself comparing gardens, making a note of flowering shrubs my bees would like, oogling all the houses I'll never live in! It should have been a 5k but thought I'd keep going as I won't get another one in till next week. At 7k I was desperate for a loo! Unlike my woods at home there was absolutely nowhere to be discreet..... How on earth do you manage if you don't have access to hidden areas?? Had to head back and creep through daughter's bedroom to loo.....Bliss!

In her book “Running like a girl” Alexandra Heminsley talks about this and she got caught short on the streets of London and had to run into a pub 😩 but there’s not always a pub open when you need one…..

Well a good interesting run for sure. And always helpful to pick up ideas about plants and garden design - shame we can't run through people's back gardens too 🤣🤣

I was very tempted, looking for the elusive shady spot.
