So today was the day I thought I'd give the HM distance another go. I had most of the route planned out by joining up 2 of my other running routes then I new I'd need to make it up as I went along.

Now these routes on their on are great but joining them up maybe wasn't the best idea because to me there are so many hilly parts.

It is a dull day but at least there's no snow or ice. But half way through the wind picked up and the rain came on but it was still okay.

That last 5k was really tough. Breathing was fine its just my legs were starting to get really tired. I had a few more walk breaks than I would have liked but thats okay . I don't beat myself up about that anymore.

So home now had a chocolate protein shake straight from the fridge , which was lovely and a bottle of water.

Shower then out with the dog , I find it helps with any aching or stiffness.

Happy running all πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Wow, absolutely brilliant! From your split times, I can’t see anywhere where you could possibly have taken a walk break 😳 That is a great time, especially with hills πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Well done!! ! There's a lot of climbing there. Still a brilliant time so the walking can't have been too much of an issue πŸ‘

Thanks Linda. Just a few walks of 10 - 15 steps. Thats was just enough to get me going again πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Well done on that HM. Firsts for the year are always fun! I'm also admiring your splits (pace, not your legs🀣) they look all very similar which suggest to me you've mastered the art of finding a comfortable speed and sticking with it all the way. My pace is always all over the shop. That could be due to the amount of hills in Plymouth buy either way, I'd love to balance things out a bit better than I do.

And as for walking the dog straight after. Clearly you didn't run far enough 🀣🀣 I'm only good for the couch after a HM

Buddy34 profile image
Buddy34Half Marathon in reply to Bike_and_Run

Thank you. I know I'm supposed to start slow and build up from there but I always seem to start of faster than I should. The only time my pacing was spot on was 5k on a running track and no I can't do the splits 🀣🀣

No matter what distance Buddy still needs walked πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Ah yes, I misread your bio, just as fantastic for just 2 years, I’ve been almost a year and have reached 7 miles, so who knows what can be achieved in 2, fingers crossed πŸ€žπŸ€—

Exactly. I never thought I'd be able to run for 30 minutes when I started c25k. So I'm still amazed when I run the longer ones πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Well done on your HM, i'm new on the marathon forum, but that looks pretty fast to me πŸ₯΅ i did my first 10 miles, last week, in 2:15, and walking your dog too πŸ‘ i wont try HM just yet, will build up a bit longer, what distances do you run, in between your HM?
