Just a quickie (promise!) πŸ˜… I wouldn’t normally post about an everyday run, but I’ve just completed my first one for nearly 2 weeks. No walks allowed either due to self isolating, so I took today’s run super slow and took W1R1 and my beloved MJ along for company. I jogged/jogged a bit faster!

Result? An β€œeffortless” 5k run at an average pace of 8:17, and I could have gone on and on. But I’m good, so I didn’t! πŸ˜‡

I realise I’ve been very very fortunate with my case of covid, and many aren’t as lucky. I’m hoping my running fitness helped. Who knows? I’d like to think it did. ❀️

Happy healthy running everyone. πŸ₯°

Great news CC, you had us all worried! I am sure that the underlying fitness was a big help. Being a cautious old buffer I would still take things easy for a while! Not a time for pb runs! πŸ§™πŸ»

Thanks so much BC. You know me, I need no excuse to revert to bimbling snail mode, so yes I’ll take your advice and do just that for a week or so! Come on snails, you’re needed ....... 🐌 🐌 🐌

Whoop whoop! So glad that you are allowed out In the big wide world again cheeky. And so lovely to share the first run Back with MJ and Flossie.

I am sure that 2 weeks wouldn’t have had a detrimental effect on your fitness cheeky, and it sounds like Covid hasn’t affected it either.

I bet you will be making up for lost time now.

It was so lovely grabbing my car keys and telling Flossie yes, we really were going out Dexy! It was a lovely morning too, although I’d have gone out whatever the weather!

I had no idea what to expect, as since starting C25K I’ve had virtually no break and have run 3+ times per week almost without fail. I’m happy with how it went, and yes, covid doesn’t appeared to have affected me. πŸ₯°

πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

How lovely! This will bring a glow to many today. Very well done on this run because you've deserved to experience this feeling once again. Great experience at the end in keeping it where you did. Longer runs will come and this is a brilliant, brilliant marker πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

Thanks GTFC. I’m happy to share my experience, hoping it will give anyone else unlucky enough to test positive a bit of positivity. πŸ˜€

I’ll continue taking it easy for a few more runs, as I don’t want to assume anything though.

I suspect the enforced break did help Katnap. Not that I fancy another! I am going to take it easy for another week or two as I certainly don’t consider myself invincible! πŸ˜€

Ugh, to not taste would be tough. I hope it doesn't take too long, but it sounds like in some, it can take months. Fingers crossed for you to have a quick return. Given you've had some improvement (fleeting as it may have been) hopefully it will be back sooner rather than later 🀞

So pleased to read this cheekychipmunks. Excellent! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸŒΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ• Well excellent as far as the running goes. Here's to your sense of taste and smell returning for part two of the excellence. How good will food taste after a period of no taste?

I'm beginning to long for my first post fall run. Next physio appointment on November 23rd, so no running until at least then, that will be 3Β½ months since my fall. I am thinking of ringing in and asking if I could cycle as it isn't so high impact and might be allowed.

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy510 Miles in reply to over61andstilltrying

It’s worth checking over61. My physio said it would help to cycle after my injury, albeit different to yours. πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksHalf Marathon in reply to over61andstilltrying

Oh wow you have no idea how much I’m looking forward to tasting real food again over61. So far the most success has come from the faint taste of a chicken cuppa soup! Yes, I stooped that low. πŸ˜©πŸ˜…

You’ve been out for a long time haven’t you? I have no idea how that must feel, and I can imagine you going a bit stir crazy. Hopefully your physio will ok cycling. Surely that’ll be ok as it’s definitely no impact. 🀞🀞 for a good appointment on the 23rd. πŸ₯°

over61andstilltrying profile image
over61andstilltrying10 Miles in reply to cheekychipmunks

Hi again and Dexy5 , decided to ring in and leave a message for my physio and I was delighted to receive a phone call not long afterwards. Yes to cycling but no to hills. Oh dear! It is all hilly here. I shall push my bike up the hills. Hooray! For something to build a bit of stamina back up. πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Here I come!πŸ˜‚ Oh boo! Rain forecast all day tomorrow!🌧

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksHalf Marathon in reply to over61andstilltrying

over61andstilltrying profile image
over61andstilltrying10 Miles in reply to cheekychipmunks

No plans to cycle in the rain. I cycled to school when teaching whatever the weather, but for now, I shall choose dry times and enjoy it more. 😊
