Anyone else?

Tough 5k on Tuesday. Performance condition +4. VO2 max up one point.

Strong 5k today. Performance condition-5. VO2 max down one point.

🤷🏽‍♀️

Funny you should post this now, I was just looking into this on my Garmin 45 and wondering how accurate it was when your post came up 😂

It’s all a mystery Tasha. I ran 10k today in 01:06:59. Average heart rate 140.....,and VO2 max didn’t budge.....🤷🏻‍♂️. Travesty !!

Have been learning how to run again! Shorter stride and increased cadence.Knee seems to like it.🤞

I have a question, where do you find performance condition? is this on individual runs?

It's possibly specific to certain watch models. I'm pretty sure I don't have that stat via my forerunner 235

Thank you I did wonder as not seen it on my vivoactive

Does it say 'Mentor 100%?' Because it should do x

Pah! Garmin doesn't know what it's talking about half the time. I only have VO2 max on the 235 (pretty sure I don't have the other stat), but it makes the most bizarre decisions for that sometimes. If I only run in short bursts it's fine - throw in a long run and down goes my VO2 max - every time!

I've gave up bothering about garmin vo2 max Tasha. One minute its going up then I go out and run a more hilly run which feels really good and vo2 max goes back down. 🤷‍♀️

My VO2 max has dropped 2 point since I started doing long runs on HM training, I’ve stopped worrying about it as I’m still achieving a longer distance each time!

I ignore the Performance Condition. It only seems to be accurate if you set off at a fairly brisk pace.

I find the VO2 max quite useful for showing progress over time. If it rises, it tends to rise after a recovery week but sometimes falls again as the training schedule tires the body. It's gone up 10 points over the last two years. 3 since starting marathon training in February. The number itself means nothing to me as it's not tested in a lab, just from a watch. Even if it was measured in a lab setting it would still not mean much, I just want to see if it's going up or down.

The bit I use most is the 7-day training load to see how hard I'm working over time. I try and keep it in the green band.

I'll tell you something weird. My V02 Max has gone up 4 points in the 6 weeks I've been on the injury couch!!! 🤣

My V02 Max was something like 30 about 6 months ago. It went up 3 points to 33 with running and it said my fitness age was about 50. I'm 45 so I was trying to get it up to at least my age!

Pop - torn calf. No exercise for about 2 weeks, then some seated cardio and walking for the next four and my V02 Max is now 37 and says I have a fitness age of 36! Much as I'd like to take that 😉something's not right there....

Strava says my fitness has gone down by 40% 🤔🤷‍♀️ which is more like what I would expect. Unless they are 2 completely different things?

No, no! Garmin is absolutely accurate. My VO2 max is in the pink, gone up two points in the last two weeks, and my fitness age is exactly 40 years below my actual age. 😆 I'll start ignoring it when we go back the other way. 😉
