Stunning New Running Route

So as I mentioned in one of my earlier post I started running back after 2 months of self quarantine. It was hard to run after long gap. Just to avoid boredom of old route I explored new one and look what I found, stunning beautiful green clean fresh and what not.

I thought it will be tough to get back to my best (at least in terms of time and distance), but it took only 4 run and on 5th I crossed 10k easily. Again pace is no where near my average (before all this Covid 19 started), but I am happy to run 100 minutes again after having too much of gap.

Those who don't know, picture is from Forth and Clyde canal route, which I took today. It's a beautiful route which helps me running long without feeling tired.

Happy Running Everyone.

Lively city! I’ve not been for a while. I was last there on my way to visit my husband’s cousin who lives not far away on Loch Long πŸ™‚

We did a walk canal-side walk to see a series of locks and the place where the Caledonian canal meets the sea. I think. So many canals so little time 😁.

What a beautiful spot. I think the new routes I’ve found have been a silver lining through this strange time.

In my experience when you get back out there, after an enforced period of non-running, it doesn't matter how long t takes to get back to previous speed and distance, it's just so wonderful to be out there at all! Looks lovely πŸ™‚

True 😊

I understand the canal running thing, I'm fortunate to live alongside one. It always makes running a little easier to have a great setting.

Good run for you jrunner, that photo is of the Forth and Clyde canal, I cycled a little part of it on Sunday from The Boathouse at Auchinstarry to Twechar, there were around 30 or 40 other cyclists cycling near Twechar, on such a lovely Sunday morning, is that photo near Kirkintilloch?

This picture is somewhere around (500 meter) Westerton station. It was a lovely Sunday indeed 😊

When I was a boy a few years ago πŸ˜€I lived very near Westerton station and walked and cycled on that part of the canal, I now live in Cumbernauld and on a few of my longer bike rides I cycled from Cumbernauld to Bowling near Dumbarton past where you took that photograph.

I live near West end retail park, crow road in partick, so it's approx. 3 km from my house to canal and bit uphill, but it's worth. I didn't know about this canal or route as normal I turn left on great western road then BMX center, Yoker and back home via Dumbarton road. This is first time I tried going straight (not turning left to great western road from crow road), I saw canal and thought let's try running few km.. it was wonderful experience. 😊

It brings back memories, it wasn't a few years ago that I lived near Westerton, it was the 1950's, I lived in Knightswood, cycled at that time many times along that part of the canal (the nickname for it at that time was "the nolly") then way out to Craigton Loch, now gone near Milngavie, the roads were much quieter in those days, just before lockdown I took the train to Milngavie, had a short walk up the West Highland Way and got the bus back through the area you live, that was 1 week before lockdown.
