Trying New Things

Just wondering if anyone else has been trying out any new workouts or activities during lockdown? Before this I only really did running and yoga, have enjoyed branching out a bit!

I've been working from home and have found that I barely move during the day! So in addition to my 3 runs per week, have been trying to do a short workout during my lunch break. The Running Channel on Youtube put out 2 home work out videos for runners so try to do those 1-2 times a week. Never did any strength training for running before, feel that it is helping!

I also have tried a few Zumba Strong workouts which I find really fun! Really good to get out some quarantine frustration too with the kicking and punching :D

My husband isn't a runner, but he really enjoys mountain biking so yesterday I rented a Beryl bike and we went out for a really nice bike ride. I hadn't ridden a bike for like 5 years, was a nice change from running! Bum is a bit sore today though :D

And if you haven't tried anything new, don't worry, we are all just trying to do our best to get through this! I suffer from anxiety which running has helped with immensley and keeping busy is a coping mechanism for me. We are all in different situations!

Hi Mandaree, I took on the Concept 2 rowing challenge and then the skiing version, that came as a bit of a surprise! Different muscle activations to running but it helped with my core strength no end. Now that our strict lockdown has been lifted I'm getting back to a bit of cycling which has given me a wonderful sense of freedom after so much time at home.

I've not heard of the Concept 2 Challenges before! I know what you mean about feeling a bit more free now!

I can't find time to do anything different at the moment! Running, riding, yoga and pilates are all keeping me going though, and everyone's ideas/links will be useful in my quieter winter months too. Sounds like you're doing a brilliant job though. I only started cycling last year but am now hooked!

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate already 😂 I really enjoyed my little bike outing, might look at purchasing my own bike when things calm down a bit more!

I’m not walking my borrowed dog at the mo as his owners are both home

They sent me a little video of his walk the other day as they know I miss him very much. I’ve seen him a few times while out and about and we’ve had a fuss 😁🥰🐕

I walk everywhere though so still getting the miles in
