Vitality Running World Cup - qualification clarification πŸ™ŠπŸ™‰πŸ™ˆ

The current qualification round of the tournament closes at midnight tomorrow (11th March).

β˜… Please note, it is the country that must qualify in this round, not you as an individual!

From the FAQ's on the official website: 'If your country is still in the competition you can run in the next round, even if you missed the previous round, or all other rounds. You cannot however change your country once you have run once for a country at any point in the tournament.'

β˜… Having said that, in order for your runs to count for your country you do need to qualify at some point by doing at least one run of 3 kms in 30minutes; however this can be during any round in the tournament.

Depending which part of the website you read, it is unclear whether or not shorter, slower runs will also count once you have done a run of 3kms in 30 minutes!

But from one of the FAQs on the official website 'If you run under 3 km / you run 3 km but take longer than 30 minutes, your run will remain on your account, but it will not count until you clock at least 3 km in 30 minutes. At this point your total run distances will count.' Contrary to what I said before, this suggests shorter runs will count, so long as you have at least one 3k+ qualifying run.

There are clearly still issues with some runs not being picked up from Strava, but Garmin and Mapmyrun tracking seems to be working well, and the form for manually registering an untracked run also seems to be working well.

It's not too late to sign up to run for your country! You'll find lots more info on how to do so in this pinned post: healthunlocked.com/marathon...

We currently have 125 amazing runners in our HU team - well done everyone. Happy running πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ†

Looks like the UK will make the cut. Top 16 teams go through, UK is currently 3rd

Hi linda9389 look like my first run has gone on but the other one is still 2 mins slower but the distance is good so I leave it at that. I have now connected with Garmin as well as strava not sure if you can have two as they may try to send the same run. But if I delete strava it says it will remove all my runs from scoreboard and I dong want that. I may just have to stick with strava and remove Garmin again. Running is much easier than this πŸ˜‚

Just let it double up! You wont be the only one. They're supposed to be eliminating duplicates

Is it just me or do they seem to be making it up as they go? πŸ˜‚

I am struggling with this and have registered, but I only use garmin connect to record my runs. It looks as though I will need to connect up to Strava or something similar to link in? ..if the answer to that is β€œyes” I will have a go...you have had enough explaining to do! 😊

The answer is no. In fact you are better doing it through Garmin. It will onlybpick up future runs though feom whenever you link Garmin as your tracker. It should all be there in my pinned FAQ post. Register with vrwc, join HU team, link tracker - Garmin, check your garmin privacy settings, then go out and run 3k 😊. Ask away though if you still have any questions

Thanks Linda. Reassured that others are finding it less than straight forward!

I just couldn’t get Strava to work for me (it wouldn’t upload to the VRWC site for me, frustrating!) but Garmin works like a dream. πŸ‘

Done it!! I think..my name is in HU team too. No run until tomorrow so I will miss tonight’s deadline but that doesn’t appear to matter. Just need to see the runs feeding through to be sure...but it does say connected to Garmin. 😰

The Garmin link only looks forward, so you won't see anything to reassure you yet. You can wait for a real run, or you can do what I did when I was testing it out: - start a run on yout watch and wave your arm about like a loon to register a small distance. Then stop the run. It should appear in vrwc under 'My runs', but won't have a valid tick because it's too short to qualify. The distance will probably also show up in the HU team, but not in 'goal' or the country total.
