I was supposed to have an early night last night but couldn't tear myself away from the tv and the World Championships Marathon in Doha! Did anyone else watch it? Callum Hawkins was outstanding and ran a tremendous race - he was leading the field with just a couple of k to go and we dared to dream...! How hard it must be to finish 4th, after 26 miles in the heat of Qatar?

My own run today, was considerably shorter, slower and cooler ๐Ÿ˜‰. After a 10 mile run last weekend, the ideal run today would have been a slow and steady 10k. ๐Ÿ‘ However, having recently entered the Gosport Half in November ๐Ÿ˜ฎ and worked out my training schedule to include the HM distance before the day, I'm afraid it was another long one for me! I chose a route I hadn't run before - an out and back along the Downslink, 8.5k out, then back plus an extra 1k. Simples!๐Ÿ˜Š The reality of course, was a little different and although the first 12k were ok, I did slip off my pace a bit for the rest of the run. My knee wasn't too happy for the last few k, but I don't blame it - it was hard work! On the positive, the run is done and I will now have a couple of rest days before a gentle midweek run. Next weekend we have a local 10k trail race which I am really looking forward to, so a low key week of running and lots of sleep (!) until then. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

Fantastic Sandra! Great run!

I've used the Downs link a few times for easy to follow training. I did my first 10 miler on it and built it into my first and second marathon distance runs.

I always think I can't get lost on it but there are a few weird bits so I have gone wrong in the past ๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks JoJo. I usually run southbound(!) and have many 'detours' that take me off in to fields and around local farmland. This was the first time I have run northbound as I knew it would be a fairly flat and easy track and just somewhere new to run, although I have been that way on my bike. I noticed several interesting looking bridleways running off it along the way - routes to explore on another day!๐Ÿ™‚

There are so many, it would take a lifetime to know them all! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜

Well done Sandra - and look after that knee. You are not alone - I have misjudged runs too many times to count! Wish we had that marathon coverage here.

The knee is a nuisance over long runs at times but is better than it was..thanks Decker.๐Ÿ‘

Thank you - its all 'miles in the legs'!๐Ÿ™‚

That's a brilliant run and a really good time. You should be proud. I hope the knee settles! xx

Thanks Flick - it usually does but hampers my pace over these long runs at the moment unfortunately...๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ™‚

My knee is laying up too and i have my half next Sunday. It's slowing me down, and 11k the other day had me walking like a cowboy who'd just got off his horse!

Didnโ€™t get to see the marathon but heard that our man did so well.

My goodness Sandra, You are a running machine! So many races in such a short time. Take care with those knees wonโ€™t you?

Have you got your bib for The GSR now? So excited. Are you in white wave with UTS?

Yes, both me and hubby are in the white wave Dexy. My knee seems happier this morning and I am not planning to run again until Wednesday now. Like I said, the long run yesterday was not ideal but I can drop mileage now until after the GSR! Phew! My plan for the next couple of weeks is to eat well and sleep more!๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ™‚

Weโ€™ve been glued to the athletics, itโ€™s been so exciting! Apparently quite a few of the female marathoners pulled out because of the heat. So disappointing for them.

But Asher-Smith was just incredible!

Great run for you Speedy Sandra ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚ sounds brilliant fun!
