Stoneleigh 5k inflatable obstacle course

Well where to start...basically it's a fun run with 15 inflatable obstacles. So why, you may be thinking does this warrant a race report in the forums?

First reason, my brother got up after a 15 hr shift to drive my nephew 100 miles to the start line to run with his uncle. My nephew is 9.

The second reason it was the lads first time at an event like this.

So to cut to the mustard.. we arrive and park up in Stoneleigh park. It's basically a large agricultural centre of around 1000 acres. Plenty of room.

The have a big stage before the start where you warm up to an enthusiastic team bouncing around the stage and you follow the moves. My nephew is at this point looking a little nervous. So a quick hug and some reassuring words hes smiling and bouncing around following the movesπŸ˜‚

So warm up over our wave of around 100 people shuffle off. It's at this point I realise it's not serious...most people start of walking. Well sod that πŸ˜‚ were here to run.

So we both set of at a steady pace and my little chatterbox of a nephew is talking at such a pace my hungover brain is struggling to keep up with πŸ˜‚

Ok so we hit the first obstacles and we bounce over those...we hit the second lot and skip through those as well. We hit the third lot and these are tunnels. My nephew shoots through like a rabbit being chased but a Jack Russell. These things are only just big enough to get my big arse through 😜.

There were 15 obstacles in total and some of the running took us past some woods and a lake with ducks.

Only once did my nephew stop and say "hang on uncle Steve I need a break". I am so proud to say he did the whole 5k and we even did a sprint finish!

More importantly I drilled in to him hydration, breathing techniques and Strava πŸ˜‚ he now also knows how to convert miles to km.

I wasnt timing it honest but we did it in 38 minutes πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ and I now have to do the junior wolfrun.

All in great day out 😎

Sounds fantastic a great day out (even with the maths class or is that history class β€˜what is a mile’)!

Congratulations to you and your nephew on completing that 5K inflatable obstacle course, a bit like a 5000 metres steeplechase you see on TV in the summer, although fun I would think it's pretty tiering to especially a 9 year old boy, congratulations on completing it.

Wow, sounds like a lot of fun was had by both of you! Great photo. Your nephew looks proud of his medal and accomplishment. It’s nice to spend time with kids doing activities where moving around is required! πŸ˜€πŸŽ‰
