Thought I’d pop a post on here as it was a bit of a milestone today - got up to HM distance! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Been ramping things up since Xmas and today managed 22km 😳😁 and now all set for my first HM race in three weeks’ time. Still can’t quite believe it, after stepping on the treadmill for the first time in April last year, on the basis I’d β€œgive running a try”.

Usual beneficial side-effects of course - weight loss, reduced waistline, more energy, feeling healthier generally from getting out in the fresh air, etc... plus have really got into the whole β€œentering races” thing... plus all the support from the wider community that’s available on here and elsewhere. Thanks VRBs πŸ˜€

Basically, had no idea back in April just how transformational this whole running malarkey would be!

I also did a 22K run during this past weekend. - on my way to 42.2K in July :) Where are you headed??

The upcoming HM is Reading, then there are various 10k’s in South Wales, followed by the Cardiff HM in October. And in terms of distance, no plans to go beyond the HM mark, I think that’s far enough for my poor old legs πŸ˜€

Great achievement Ian and not only that but you inspire others (like me) to push on and improve distance, stamina, speed etc. As you say, a transformational change and in no small part due to the unwavering support and encouragement of our VRB's

Yessss! Great news. Would you like a forum badge? (I can't imagine why you'd say no, but I like to ask to ramp up the ceremony a little :D)

Yes of course, always happy to get a new badge - thank you very much kind lady :)

That's if a training run like this counts? If not can just wait until the race next month.

Of course it counts 😊 22k is 22k. Besides, you get a proper solid medal for the actual event, so they've already got that bit covered.

Here you go! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Wow, what fantastic progress you have made. Couch to HM is less than a year that takes dedication and is inspirational. Good luck with the event. You are definitely a winner.
