Hills, mud, rain, wind, mud, hills sums up the White Star Running event at Larmer Tree Gardens yesterday.... did I mention the mud and hills?? But, great time had by all and feeling to get over the finish line was awesome.
White Star Running organise a weekend of running events at the same location and this weekend included a 10 mile, 10 mile dog&owner, HM, 10 mile night run, 20 miles and Marathon. Believe it or not, my HM race was slightly delayed so that someone could finish the 10 race and then start the HM!!
Very well organised as normal, well marked route which was all off road except for a few 100 meters of road. Lots of motivation signs and aid stations throughout. Great bling (as always) and a voucher for some free food which went down well.
If you haven't run off road before, I would strongly recommend that you give it go. Running trail races is a world away from road runs... time is not an issue as the terrain and conditions dictate that.
Today I may be hobbling a bit.. but think I'll have a gentle trot tomorrow and start getting myself ready for a 10k charity road race in Exeter next weekend. .. eeekkk
Happy running folks...

Well done 😃👍 That sounds a lot of slides fun 😁 Medals and food too, what could be finer.
It’s great to be off-road and not constantly having to worry about traffic isn’t it 🙂
Harder on the legs when it’s heavy going though of course, so you will feel it today. It gets me in my upper body as well, hence my efforts in the gym 💪😃
Fantastic Andy, I enjoy seeing your write ups on these runs, a great series to have access to. After that, a road race is nothing! You’ll be whizzing along!
Sounds like a great race Andy. It was a local trail run that got me restarted on my running journey last year. I love how it takes away the pressure of running fast and worrying about pace. When you know there is steep hills and tough terrain, it's all about the joy of being outside, in nature, enjoying the elements instead of running through the concrete jungle. I can't wait to get off the pathways and back on the trails.
That looks to be a lot of fun Andy. It was a great read. I’ve never run trails but really want to try them out after my HM. Wow, those hills look tough!
wow great stuff Andy! thats the one i did last year, loved it! i was jealous of everyone going this weekend! i think the half has the BEST medal too! well done those hills are epic!
