Well, I did it!

Yesterday was day 24 of my half marathon training, and 14 KM. I was really quite nervous about this one, probably because it's further than I have ever run before. I've done 13 KM a couple of times but not for about a year. As I said, I was a bit nervous, and searching for excuses to put it off for a day or two, even though this one has been planned since I started the plan. BaldyBoy told me that the next day (i.e.today, Sunday) was forecast for snow, so I thought carpe diem - get on with it CG!

I decided to split it into manageable bits, I ran up to parkrun, about 3.5 KM , then parkrun itself, which was a bit icy and had nearly been cancelled, then home, that just left a little bit of toddling around my local streets, and - voila! 14 KM!

I thought about this forum a lot, and the runners here who have struggled with runs, but pushed through anyway, or indeed those who have had easy runs....you were all with me as I plodded along in sub zero temperatures. I was blue, with a numb bum by the time I got home, but I DID IT!

That's two thirds of a Half Marathon ticked off, lots of time left for the remaining KMs, strangely I'm not so nervous about those.

Thank you all for running with me yesterday, I love this forum xx

That is really amazing. What a clever way to do your distance! I'm all about tricking myself, so I think it's a good strategy.

Well done! I love the idea of tricking yourself, breaking it up into shorter runs. After all we know we can run parkrun distance. And 3.5k to get to parkrun is nothing. Etc., etc.! Longer runs are a bit of a slog, I don’t know how people train for marathons with training runs of 30k regularly.
