That’s a big jump from 10k one week to 20k the week after. Are you already at the HM stage? If not I would build up to it a bit more slowly. I did mine in 1 - 2k increases every week. I would find 20k runs every fortnight very tiring, but I’m not you!

You don’t have to run the longer distances very often ! You can run too much! Avoiding injury is the thing! Small, incremental increases by 10% a week is good.

Cross training will be important at this point as well

Have fun 👍🙂

I agree with JaySeeSkinny . That's a big jump.

Also, you ought to try to ensure the longest run is no more than 30-50% of the total weekly volume. So if you're running a 20 km as the long run, it would be good to ensure that the other runs that week add up to at least 20 km, and ideally to more than that.

Have a great time!

thats a big jump, I would suggest just 10% on your run each week to avoid injury.....

I'm already running 20k. I was running 20k every week . Now I'm having an easy week, to give my body more time to recover. I also do a circuits class to develop my core. I am also going to run 5k and walk for 2 minutes. I want to increase the distance by 2k approximately 10% each month for the long distance. I may find that I can only do the long run every 3 or 4 weeks. The thing is I think that a major component part of doing the marathon for me is going to be the mind. This is how I trained for the ½ marathon. But this time I going to have to find more then 1k, as I'm not going to run to within 1k of a marathon.
