First run with chest light

First run since Sunday's HM a slow steady 5k turned into a not so slow and steady 6.5k๐Ÿ˜Š.

This was my first fully dark evening run this year and I used my new chest light. The light was great, worked really well although going out without charging it up wasn't my brightest idea! There was enough light for the run but it was definitely getting weaker.

How some of you do zombie runs in the dark I don't know ๐Ÿค” . My imagination, the rustles in the undergrowth/hedgerows and the shadows were enough to keep me spooked ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Just as I started off in an unlit area, in full dark I jumped as I saw two big black hands at each side of me - they were my shadows - obvs ๐Ÿ˜‚ And as the run went on and I got used to them it was a bit like running in a hug.

Good int it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. I find they work better in full dark but sometines in the lit streets not so good in places and you canโ€™t see your feet I run slower by quite a margin. I donโ€™t think my night vision is very good either ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Iโ€™d need a better light for running in the countryside. Runforest was night running last week with borrowed Silva head torches. They do that sort of stuff regularly. The owner ran the Worksop half. ๐Ÿ™‚

I enjoyed once I'd stopped scaring myself ๐Ÿ˜Š. My trail has no lights and a couple of times I got "lost" thinking I was further on/then behind than I really was. Next run will be with a fully charged light so I should get a sharper light all the way through!

Yes, I'd heard he had, a darned sight faster than me. Actually trying to make time to go over for gait analysis and noo shoes but the way it's going I think it will be the other side of Christmas before I manage the huge distance of 8 miles!

I too like a chest light. More comfortable than a head torch, although also a bit more faffage and mine is not as powerful as my head torch.

Don't you find the darkness running special? The not quite knowing where you are, things that look so different, think it's lovely.

Ha! I often jump out of my skin because thereโ€™s a huge dark figure looming behind me - only to realise itโ€™s my own shadow. Iโ€™m going to try and think of it as a hug in future.

I definitely couldnโ€™t do a zombie run in the dark. At even the slightest hint of the light dimming, I image Iโ€™m starring in a sequel to the Blair Witch Project...

I thought about that - how is my face lit up - as a cyclist appeared round a corner ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. He had a head torch and front light.
