Hi all,

How is it going?

As some of you are aware, we have a rolling 6 week quest over on C25k and I want to 'test the water' here.

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks.

You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

Some goal suggestions:

To run X times a week✔️

To slowly increase distance✔️

To train for a specific race✔️

To add In Stretch and strength exercises✔️

Aim for a new 5, 10, HM or marathon PB ✔️

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.

Good Luck everybody !

Hi all, well I didn't get the mileage I wanted last week due to having tired legs - I'd run on two consecutive days, which I don't usually do, parkrun on the Saturday and a 10k race on the Sunday, I was going to be volunteering at the event, but the opportunity came to help out and run, so.......🏃‍♀️

Did a fairly good 6k , instead of my 'planned' 10 - 12 midweek, did parkrun Saturday, plenty of walking yesterday and today, aiming for a 10k midweek, then its Wings for Life on Sunday, looks like the weather is going to be more comfortable than the 26 degrees we had last year....😓, so hopefully I'm all set to get chased down by David Coulthard......😉

Happy running all!

My aim was to get my parkrun time down and I have completely failed!!!!! I haven't been as focussing on running miles. I actually really don't enjoy running with others 😢 So I do my own thing which I'm happier about 😎

This quest has ended with me philosophising about goals!

My stated aim was to get a marathon PB, which I achieved by over an hour (4:16:43 from 5:17:29), and feel very proud. OK it could be said that Beachy Head Marathon is a very hilly apple and Brighton Marathon is a pretty flat orange, but I am still chuffed to bits!

But the thing is, I confess, that I didn't hit any of the real goals I set myself! My actual planned time (as set by the MyAsics plan) was 4:06:50, and my A+ (all the stars aligned) target was for under 4 hours. My ultimate dream goal was to finish in under 3:50 and qualify to enter as a "good for age" for the London Marathon. None of this happened. I'm not complaining though, bear with me!

I believe in setting difficult goals, I really think we should aim for the very best (short of perfection, of course). But I started to get pretty nervous in the weeks leading up to the Brighton Marathon - it's a massive challenge, and what would I do if I wasn't happy with my finishing time? Would I get really depressed?? That would be horrible. So I started to think it would be fine just to beat my previous time, and a couple of days before the event I was planning to be happy with any outcome that involved actually finishing!

On the day of the race, I pushed myself for sure, for the first 10k or so. Then the temperature soared, and at the halfway point of the race I was seriously considering dropping out. But all my strategies worked, I made it to the finish, and with a pretty darn decent finishing time - I was really really really happy!!

So, I will continue to set myself audacious goals. But I'll always adopt a positive-thinking strategy. And, although I can't influence the weather, I've got myself some AWESOME new shoes for Brighton 2018. And I've entered the London Marathon ballot again :D :D

p.s. My goal was reached quite early into this 6 week quest, but I have been waving my pom-poms for everyone else who challenged themselves. Hope you all had fun too!

Oh come on then Roseabi, let's be seeing those shoes!

I am like you in that I need goals to work to and a plan. I like a positive Mindset too 🙂

My running is going ok. 10k trail race last weekend ticked off. Now working to a plan for my next two hilly races, the first of which is is two weeks. Eek! Got a lovely mid week evening run booked at our local stately home. It's a grueller as there is a damned great hill 😃 Two ten mile races booked, one in early July.

So, plenty to do 🙂 My cross training is walking the dog. I seem to be looking after him a lot now. I lost 1.5 lbs this week and I think it was down to all the extra exercise I got from having him here for the week 😃

I had a new phone recently so downloaded endomondo as I thought I fancied some vocal coaching. I must say I thought I was underwhelmed. So, back to kick ass Sami 😃

I have sound turned on now on myasics app 🙄 So will try that again but the signal kept dropping out and only recorded half the run 🙁

I just realised the other day that the myasics app was draining my battery, so I got rid :)

I just wanted to try some apps cos never had a posh phone before 😃

Seems reasonable! Hope you're enjoying the new phone :) I only use Endo to keep a record. I have a friend who gave up on it recently because it kept being wildly inaccurate, and benwill said similar. But it seems to match my race chip times ok, so I've stuck with it.

I have my Garmin but I fancied the vocal coaching. As I go longer for half m training I rely on Sami podcasts. Going to be pushing further soon and checking out new horizons so a phone will be handy to check out maps if I get a bit lost

Lovely, new horizons = fun!! And so much better with a map :)

I reached all my goals so super thanks for running the quest :) I wanted to sign up for the running club and get the tshirt. Tick. I wanted to do a parkrun in 30min-something. I did 2 in 29min-something so double tick. I also wanted to get my 3x per week running routine back and I've totally managed that every week throughout the quest. Plus I finally did my first event, a 10k. So extra ticks there too. I really enjoyed the focus of these past few weeks thank you :)

I haven't done everything I wanted to, but only because I got the lurgy a couple of weeks ago and it triggered my asthma. Before that, everything was going brilliantly and I was building speed and distance quite nicely for the Wings for Life race this Sunday. Now I don't think I'll get anywhere near what I was hoping for on Sunday, but that's ok. I'm going to do it, and that's good enough under the circumstances. Wish me luck :) :)
