Royal Parks Half Ballot

If your interested and like getting rejection emails! Then the ballet for the royal parks half is open for a few days. It's apparently very good and fun (the race not the rejection email).

I've entered the ballot. I need an autumn HM in the plan, and this one sounds like it would be very lovely. Steep price though, and very cheeky with the suggestion that "if you donate your entrance fee even if you're not successful, then we'll send you a hoody and put you in a second chance draw".

Yep very cheeky London marathon do the same thing. Don't bother with it now after the cheap bit tat they sent me. I might do it of it was going to be half decent.

After reading how many people were disappointed, I haven't dared share the news that I got a place on the ballot. I just put my name down, with my non-UK address. I decided against paying the fee to increase your chances, which I did when I applied for the first time last year.

So I was shocked when I got the e-mail on Friday. I've since talked to good friends in the UK, and will have the race pack sent to them - a great excuse to go visit them in October. The race is at the end of our autumn half term, so my kids would like to come (I'm sure I could convince my mother to come), but I hadn't budgeted for an extra trip abroad this year, and will need to give this some thought.

I thought I'd share my story so people know that random people occasionally get places without putting in money to get into the second draw.

I of course got a rejected email so that's 3 for races this year. Royal parks half, London marathon and London Ride 100.
