Recovery Runs...

So, what's good advice on recovery runs ie that first run after a tough or long run?

Whilst I can still feel some aches from Sunday's HM, I'm thinking that it may be beneficial to go out and do a very gentle couple of K this evening.

My only research on this has been "googled" so interested to hear if this will be a benefit to my recovery or set myself back!

I have a 13k trail-ish run this Sunday and what to be prepared as I can :-)

I ran 20 miles - the famous Finchley 20 - on Sunday and ran a gentle 5 miles this morning before work. I was stiff, but not sore, which I think is a useful rule of thumb.

I would just do two easy runs before the weekend event - neither one too long. Good luck!!

I run C25K W4r1 whenever I want to do a short, recovery run. I find the walk/run intervals are enough to stretch my legs, but it is not too tiring.

You know your body's. I am completely in love with Epsom salts. I had a bath in them Sunday after bath!! Then yesturday I went out and smashed my 10k PB. I will be taking it easyish though for the rest of the week as I am due 23 miles on Sunday... Yikes! Hope your legs feel ok now?

You can't say 'smashed my 10k PB' and then not tell us the time :-)

I finally got the Epsom Salts Ju! From the hoss place across t'road! Wahay. A big tub for under a fiver. I shall bathe like a queen tonight. Running later so am going to have a soak tonight. My calves are still making themselves felt.

Oh yes, recovery runs. Factor them in for sure! I am doing 3 recovery runs after my 10k race. Two 5k's and then an 8 k on Saturday. Then there is one build-up run of 8k to set me back on the road to training for my my next race. These are all just comfortable pace. No exertions!
