And I do, when I run I am just JCR, and sometimes I feel like I’m flying, even though in truth, often it’s more of a plod. It sets me free from life stuff.

Fooood! If I didn't run I'd be the size of a house.
I went for the “feel happy” option, but it’s a bit more profound than that for me, I think... e.g. it occurred to me one day last week that I wanted to get out for a run because I knew afterwards that I’d simply feel more alive.
Being on my own, alone. Kinda healthier version of solitary confinement. Hence you don't see me running with anyone else.
Oh I have a top four really! It keeps me fit (well maybe I am not as fit as I think), I love that happy place i am in post run, It allows my favourite lindor chocolate treat, I get to escape the world and think things through.
It's a keeper, isn't it!? 
Running simply gives me the space I need to feel big enough to survive everything and small enough to hide from the things that unsettle me. I can just stand on a blowy, gorsey hill and everything is alright again. Deep breath, run home, smile from inside out.
Lots of those but, other than when I do my group runs on Monday which I enjoy, I love going off into the countryside, no phone or even if I take it its in my belt, no work or worries. The time it gives just being away from everything is... I can't find the word, but like a bubble of time outside everything, where nothing matters for a bit. And you get a sense of perspective when the landscape stretches away for miles. And the sun shines, the birds sing... It's a sense of freedom I guess.
