Madopar and HDT times
Can I take HDT (500mg) at exactly the same time with my regular Madopar dose (100mg/25mg), without fear of interference which may result in the loss of effectiveness of both or either of them? Also is it relevant if HDT is taken on an empty stomach?

First Post.
My wife was diagnosed with Parkinson's in September 2023 but on seeing a neurologist last week he says she might have msa. She's been on madopar since September but it appears to have made very little difference so he's upped the dosage to see if it helps. We'd just begun to accept the Parkinson's diagnosis

Neupro side effects
Neurologist suggested adding two mg Neupro patches to regime of Zadago plus Madopar 1.5 three times a day. Diagnosed 7 years ago, first twitch 13 years ago. Only lasted one day as I had nausea, vomiting, headache, cold sweats and sleepiness. Is this normal? I have had previous similarly adverse experience

Seeking Advise
Hello fellow Parkies I am in dire need for some advise regarding the dosage of my medications. I am in my 7th year since diagnosed with Parkinson's and I have for most of the time been on Madopar (200mg of levodopa and 50mg of benserazide). I started of with half a tablet 3 x per day, later increased

Parkinson’s, madopar and heart failure
Is there anyone with Parkinson’s and also heart failure? I started Madopar 50mg 3 times a day. After two weeks it was increased to 100mg ×3 a day. I have low blood pressure and after taking two tablets of 100mg it made my BP drop so low (70/50) I almost fainted and I had to lie down. I reduced the doze

For People With Parkinson's Taking Levodopa Medication: The Danger of B6 Deficiency Is Dire and Vastly Outweighs the Danger of B6 Excess
Vitamin B6 is an essential cofactor for over 100 enzymatic reactions. We need abundant B6 to keep what is left of our dopaminergic neurons as healthy as possible, especially since they are already compromised by Parkinson's. Levodopa medication depletes vitamin B6. B6 is only present in foods in low

Parkinson's wife
My husband was diagnosed about 4 years ago though I suspect Parkinsons was developing long before that. Main problem - neither Sinemet or Madopar has any effect on bradykinesia or tremor (let alone the non motor symptoms)and increasing medication e.g. Neupro patch = rotigotine dopamine agonist only

DBS update
So gang. 3 months following DBS. I had it done because my dystonia was getting so bad and the reliability of the meds was open to question. I might thrive on a particular dose of Madopar and then the next day would be stuck whilst on a walk after having taken the same. It was very hard to plan anything

night time pain
Hi there everyone. Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, but I my sleep is being ruined by severe lower back pain./stiffness in the night. My neurologist has prescribed me slow-release madopar overnight. This is proving completely ineffective. The only reliable way I can get a decent Sleep

B1 Therapy #Case 2 *Andreia Peres
I've decided to write a series of posts about B1 therapy for a group of people I'm following. Most of them I met through Young Parkies Portugal, or they reached out to me on social media asking for guidance in applying this therapy. Some of these texts had already been published on social media, and

Madopar
Hi, I’ve recently started taking Madopar. I can’t detect any changes yet, apart from the fact that it seems to make me extremely tired. I just wondered if anyone else has found it effective?

DBS switch on news.
So gang. I was really off when I turned up, not having had meds for 4/5 hours? Whole body dystonia, plain awful. The switch on was good in terms of removing this dystonia but I think I was expecting a brand new body! Ali noticed a big difference when they dialled everything in. . So, my bradykinesia

madopar vs sinemet
hi everyone! I’m planning to switch from sinemet 125 mg (levodopa carbidopa combination) immediate release to madopar Controlled release 125 mg (levodopa benserazide). Based on your experience, do you think it’s safe n is a good idea?
