I had my fourth shot of avastin last week and for the first time I am experiencing cloudy vision. My doctor examined me and said nothing is serous. The cloudy vision is coming fron the gel of the eye which has been disturbed by the injection, said it will settle down. Any similar experiences pls as m quite upset

It is unusual in my experience of 95 shots.

Sometimes, although I have been fortunate and not experienced it, there can be blood clouding the eye which disperses naturally over several days.

Personally, and assuming it does not become worse I would give it a couple of weeks and if there is no improvement I would get back to the clinic for attention.

If the gel in the eye has become permanently clouded somehow then perhaps a vitrectomy would resolve it.

I hope it clears.

Thank you so much for your reply much appreciated. This was my last shot and was given as a precaution than this happens. Very unfortunate. But I am trying to be positive.

HI, it sounds as though you have a vitreous detachment , which happens sometimes after injections although my consultant said the injection doesn't cause it. I had the same problem and it took about six months to clear up, consultant wouldn't do any more injections until it had cleared up.

Fortunately my AMD was stable.

Hope this might be of help. Best wishes.

What are the symptoms of vitreous detachment?

I had this happen to me after my first shot. It was so scary because I could only see very large objects out of that eye and even those were blurry. I thought the shot had made my vision worse instead of better. The good news is that it did clear up for me but it took a little over 2 weeks. Hang in there!

oh yeah totally normal. I get them to put so much in I can't even see through the cloud. Feels so good. Then I don't open my eyes for about 24 hours. It totally works for me.

In my experience (around 15 shots of different anti-meds) there is a great deal of blurriness for two to three days after the injection. Bear also in mind, that one of the symptoms of wet AMD is blurriness due to the leakage of fluid from weak blood vessels in the macular region. That's what they are trying to suppress, that fluid that gathers. They are trying to prevent any vision loss from getting any worse but I think it is difficult for the eye to regenerate itself once damage has occurred. On a note of optimism, there is a new drug currently going through trials called AXT 107 which is supposed to be more efficient at repairing leaky blood vessels and which lasts much longer than current medicines such as Avastin, Lucentis and Eyelea. We wait in hope.

Hello, I was wondering if your vision in that eye ever cleared up? I have been receiving Avastin injections fir a few years now and never had any serios side effects. Yesterday for the first time I experienced a cloudy haze and severe dryness. I thought I was going blind. Dr said he didn’t see any issues upon re-examining me. Here I am the next day and my eye keeps watering and the cloudy haze is gone but my vision is blurry in that eye. Hoping it’s temporary.
