I wonder if the society could publish the research findings here for people. I received them in the newsletter and it looks very promising for AMD

Hello Rosy,

We do publish lots of information about research on our website; macularsociety.org

We are also a membership organisation and keep members up to date with research developments through the pages of our 'Side View' magazine and research journal 'Spotlight'.

We also send periodic email updates.

We give new members the first 6 months of their membership free of charge and thereafter the cost is £18 a year.

Please see the following link for more information;

Best wishes

Yes it's in today's papers, one day we may not have to suffer all the painful jabs in the eye. It's definately hopeful.

This is what I have found and it looks like both wet and dry could be treated by the same method.

The Guardian will say it's old news, of course:

I asked about it when I was diagnosed and my suggestion that it might be futuristic was confirmed with: "Very."

September 2015!!!!!!!! Why has it taken the Express so long to catch up and does that mean that they are almost two years further along with rolling this out nation wide???? I hope and pray that you all get this treatment as soon as possible.

I think they're still trying to work out if it's better to use fetal cells (which have rejection problems like other forms of transplant) or induced pluripotent stem cells (where the cells are created from cells of the transplant recipient), best techniques etc etc.

So no help coming anytime soon, such a shame.

I think the only hope will be a trial before years and years. I also wonder, though, whether something to remove the scarring with CNV cannot be developed.
