? any info about cysts after injections?

I had my latest Eyelea injection on 20th October and noticed some discomfort ( mild) for longer than usual- felt like something was in my eye but no sharp pain . Yesterday I had a closer look and found what I think was a cyst fairly near injection site so took myself off the Moorfields in case it was infection etc.

They put a pin in it ( after local anaesthetic drop) to let the fluid out but said that might return.

Wonder if anyone else has had this and whether it is significant- I have searched usual literature and can't find any reference to it

That is new to me, not happened in 75 injections but, there is always something new under the sun to learn!

Yes, not a record though, I know of two people who have racked up 123. 😳

Hi rosyG

I am not sure my reply is relevant here. I had a cyst on my eye long, long before I even knew I had eye problems, hence certainly long before treatment. My optician advised me to bathe my eye (with my eyes closed) with warm water severeal times a day. After a few days the cyst popped open with gunge all over the eye. No antibiotics given. I never had another cyst. Of course, in your case, with your eye condition and treatment the situation may well be different.

Hi RosyG

Yes I had multiple cysts on my eyeball ( white part) after the 38 th injection. I did not know I had them though did feel my eye was bit uncomfortable they were found when I went for my next injection .

Mine were called conjunctival retention cysts. I was given some ant biotic cream to put on and within a week they cleared up enough for me to have my injection. I do know they may return, hope that helps

This is extremely helpful as when I tried to go for 6 weeks between injections my oedema returned so to wait an extra week would be potentially serious. So I rang the ward at Moorfields today , explaining about what happened to you, and the nurse agreed I need to find out whether to use antibiotic cream before the next appointment. He has advised me to ring back on Monday and to ask the nurse who gives the injections-

Thank you very much for taking the time to post this- very grateful Tallyho

Glad that was helpful. Usually they give steroid eye drops but I am a steroid responder so could not have this as it would raise my IOP too much . I must point out I don’t go to Moorfields I go to a hospital in Surrey.

Hi there Tallyho here again just to let you know the ointment I was given was called chloramphenicol, after a week using that I had the injection and then told after another week to put a warm compress on my closed eyelids twice a day and also use a clean pad to wipe under my bottom eye lid
