Dear Suejoyce,

The function of injections for wet AMD is to suppress the abnormal blood vessels, stabilise the eye, maintain vision and prevent further damage. They are not geared towards improving sight, although occasionally some individuals can experience a slight improvement in vision within the first few injections. Obviously it is positive if you think that you are experiencing a slight improvement in sight.

Kind regards,

Yes, suejoyce, I did after the first even. Unfortunately for me it didn't last and my oedema (I have brvo) came back .

I wish you all the best. Enjoy this time of success.

My advice however is to be cautiously optimistic at this stage so that you don't get the bad emotional low if things don't proceed to plan.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

The inj do work for most people I believe so you're off to a good start x

Hi Suejoyce

My AMD had dried up after 3 injections but I was given 2 further injs to reduce the swelling. My condition has been stable now for almost 4 months without treatment, but I feel that things are now slightly changing again and I know it will be only a matter of time before the injs have to start again. How long or short the respite is varies from person to person and even from eye to eye. That tends to be the nature of wet AMD. Meanwhile, I enjoy my break from torture.

I hope you are one of the lucky ones too and get your break. Good luck and all the best. x

I was diagnosed with wet AMD in the spring - which came as a surprise.

I've so far had three Eylea injections, but can't say I've experienced any noticeable improvement.

The only plus I've found with AMD is that I don't need to clean the lens of my glasses on the 'gammy' eye!😉

Fingers crossed, all the best

Hi I have had 24 injections, every six weeks, for the past 3 years. My sight definitely improved, even the day after the injection, my sight improved drastically each time, however the injection wears off after a period of time so another injection is required. I think the doc hopes that some day after the injection, your sight improves and stays that way, hoping there will be no need for any more injections, however, the longer you need the injections the more unlikely that this will happen. But stick with it, make sure you are always hydrated and keep an eye on your blood pressure as high blood pressure may be seen as the cause of eye problems. Best of luck!
