Lutain Supplements.

Doe's anyone use Lutain capsules as a supplement? Holland and Barrat do one, I used to use theirs , but my consultant recommended Macu Sheild ...more expensive but I shop around on Amazon.

They are a great supplement to help keep eyes healthy and if the Head Honcho Eye Man recomends them I think its worth while.

just one a day at breakfast time. I actually can tell the difference if I haven't taken one.

No, I am not on commision , just something I feel is with while.

Hello Eyelet,

Please see our booklet called 'Nutrition and Eye Health' at the following link;

macularsociety.org/sites/de...

The recommended formula for a supplement for someone with dry AMD is on page 5 of the booklet and is referred to as the 'AREDS2' formula (please see booklet for more information).

There are not many 'AREDS2' supplements readily available. Macushield Gold (not basic Macushield) is a good one as is 'Viteyes2' and 'Preservision AREDS2'.

Macushield Gold can be obtained from pharmacists, the others tend only to be available on-line.

Pharmacists and health food shops do sell their own brands, but be careful what is actually in them as they may contain the right sort of contents/ingredients.

Sadly, many of them are quite expensive.

Best wishes

Thanks for that info I have just looked at the box mine are in and you are right, they are not Macusheild gold. Will go and have a look else where.

But I do still find they make a difference.

Hi, I take Macusheild Gold. I'm due to have first hospital appointment later this month so it wasn't recommended by a doctor.

I do seem to have some improvement in that looking at charts shows less distortion but I also changed my diet eating healthier with leafy greens and peppers ect.

I've been using Macusheild Gold since my Consultant told all his patients that this was the better one. 3 a day capsules. They are not cheap. About £50+ for 3 months from Yates & Suddell. Shopped around & heard scary stories from some people about drugs bought from Amazon so sticking with Y&S. Hoping that they work as well as the last, possible as not had an injection on my last two appointments so fingers crossed.

I appreciate your concern re Amazon. But have used these now for a couple of years at half your price. There is bad publicity re some drugs but as these are a supplement not a drug, drug.....but all of that aside I do find them very helpful at maintaining eye health.

I just wondered how many other people used them.

I did find standard Macushield are cheaper than Gold but as i trust my Consultant i swallow the price increase as i would hate to lose the sight i have left.
