My friend of 40 years recently lost a lot of her vision to AMD. She had to stop driving and working. She'll never drive again but she is getting back to work after help from several rehab folks and new assistive devices.
When she had to quit work, it was devastating. She wanted to keep a journal to make her feel productive and also she thought she could help people going through something similar. She asked me if I could do a blog for her. I did more than that, we have a website. Half of it is dedicted to her journal pages where she writes about what is happening to her both good and bad. She's a pyshcologist & she writes about using a cognitive therapy on herself. It's not psychological advice just suggestions about what works or doesn't work for her.
I have been doing research on all kinds of topics about AMD & i've written blog posts with that info.
We don't get any money from this. We just want to help others. She continue to write & I continue to do research so if you like what you see, please sign up as a follower (your email address will not be shared with anyone).
We'd like to think we've covered most of what is important to those with AMD. There is so much out there but we found it hard to navigate it all. That's why we've taken the time to organize what we've found to be helpful.
I don't have AMD, thankfully, but l lost sight in both of my eyes over a period of 2 days, 11 mths. apart and can no longer drive etc. Can l sign up to your blog please?

I believe there is something called areds2 you can take which has nutrients good for eyes . The Macular Society has info, look at their website. Green leafy veg also good for eyes (has lutein), kale and spinach the best to eat I think, you can make soup, smoothies etc.
I just want to update this. We now have a Facebook group to go with our website. The advantage is that with the group, we can share information and our concerns with others who are going through similar things. Plus, it is easier for me to share posts from 50 other Facebook groups that have pages/groups on Facebook.
